LCC students look forward at career day

LIMA — A career day was held Wednesday at Lima Central Catholic to help students explore different career options and make informed decisions about their future.

Nine professional careers were represented by 12 people ranging from skilled trades to education and health care. The students were surveyed in the fall and asked to make two choices. The students got to hear about two careers, one Monday and a second Wednesday.

Principal Stephanie Williams said, “Just like any other business, we hear what the needs of the community are. We hear what the national needs are. It is our responsibility to help kids not only figure out what their own individual career goals are, but hopefully meet those needs here locally. We really want to tell kids, ‘It’s okay to go into the workforce and make a living here in Lima or go away to college and then come back.’ We want to make sure they know what’s available locally as well as nationally.”

Career day can help students identify their interests, strengths and weaknesses and then decide on a career path that aligns with their goals. It can provide students with valuable information and insights that can prepare them for success in the workforce.
