Lima man arrested in Wednesday shooting death

LIMA — A Lima man was arrested Wednesday in the shooting death of a man in a northwestern part of Lima, according to a press release from the Lima Police Department.

The LPD responded to the 100 block of North Rosedale Avenue on Wednesday regarding a reported shooting. When they arrived, they discovered Kirk Perine, 59, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

LPD identified suspect Michael L. Oliphant, 21, of, Lima, based on witness descriptions. LPD Sgt. Jason Garlock said officers located him “within minutes” of the shooting, and he referred to “shooting a gun” and was arrested.

Officers transported Oliphant to the Allen County Jail and held him on the charge of murder.
