Exploit Duo to play at Lima Elks Lodge

LIMA — Bob Schroeder is excited to perform at the Lima Elks Lodge.

One half of the Exploit Duo, a smaller version of the Celina-based act Exploit, singer and guitarist Schroeder and pianist Frank Harnishfeger are set to take the room at the lodge at 7 p.m. Friday.

“It’s not Christmas Eve yet, but we’ll be playing some Christmas songs,” said Schroeder. “But otherwise we’ll be doing our usual country rock and mixing it up for all styles. And we’re hoping it’ll be a big crowd. And it’s open to the public. There will be great food, great drinks and as an added bonus, my daughter, Lauren Jean, who appeared on American Idol will be joined by my oldest daughter Sydney and they’ll get up there and sing as well.”

Schroeder’s history in music goes back to 1980 performing with the Blanchard Valley Bluegrass Boys, recording two albums with that band. He also performed with the Buck Tanner Band in the 1980s before helping to form Exploit in 1990. While that group disbanded in 2002, he was part of the band’s resurrection in 2008.

Harnishfeger has been performing in the Lima area since 1979, performing with such groups as The Rods, the Hipsters, Jo Momma’s Band, the Hired Hand Band and Exploit. According to the band’s website, Harnishfeger has opened for Waylon Jennings and has performed with such artists as Leslie Gore, The Shirelles and The Dixie Cups.

A look through the full band’s song list on their website reveals an eclectic set, with songs included from artists ranging from Chicago to KC and the Sunshine Band to The Temptations to Alabama.

Schroeder said that he and Harnishfeger also perform with the Beer Barrel Boys and were able to perform at the Elks Lodge and that there are multiple things they are looking forward to with their upcoming performance.

“We’re just looking forward to people having a good time,” he said. “And I think there’ll be a lot of people home for the holidays. So we’re hoping that family and friends will be getting together and listening to some music and having some great food. I’m having my own family Christmas there before we play so I’m looking forward to it for that reason.”

Schroeder is excited to get back to the venue.

“The Elks Lodge is a great place for live music and they treat the people well.

For anyone not familiar with Exploit, the band has a website called exploitrocks.com where there is a schedule listed, along with biographies, a set list and links to recordings.

Schroeder also said that he accepts friend requests on Facebook and that they can find Exploit’s page there as well.
