College football: LCC grad Moore named Division III All-American

Lima Central Catholic graduate Rossy Moore is one of three members of the University of the Mount Union football team to make the 2022 Associated Press Division III All-America First Team.

Moore leads the Raiders in sacks with 10.5 and is second in tackles for a loss at 17.5 for a Raider defense that tops the country in total yards allowed per game (192.4) and yards allowed rushing (44.6) across all divisions. This is Moore’s first All-American selection of his career.

Moore had previously been named D3football.com All-Region 4 Defensive Player of the Year and the Ohio Athletic Conference’s Gene Slaughter Linebacker of the Year.

Joining Moore on the first team are senior teammates quarterback Braxton Plunk and wide receiver Wayne Ruby Jr.

No. 2 Mount Union (14-0) will play No. 1 North Central (14-0) in the 2022 NCAA Division III Stagg Bowl XLIX championship game today at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. The Purple Raiders are pursuing their 14th national championship.

Moore’s accomplishments while at Lima Central Catholic included being named first team all-Ohio and earning a spot on The Lima News Dream Team.
