Warrant to rock Lima Civic Center

LIMA — Hair metal band Warrant is very familiar with the Northern Ohio area.

So, when they return to the Veterans Memorial Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, bassist Jerry Dixon says they will have an idea of what to expect.

“We’ve always done good in Ohio,” said Dixon. “That’s, you know, that’s where (former lead singer and Akron native) Jani (Lane) and (drummer and Wadsworth native) Steve (Sweet) are from. So every time we play Ohio it’s almost like a hometown gig, I think that makes it a little special.”

And Dixon said that the Lima crowd should be ready to have the excitement returned to them when asked what they should expect.

“To get their faces ripped off, baby,” he said. “We try to be true to the hits. We play all of them. We don’t go up there and play a bunch of new songs that nobody’s heard. So they can expect to hear all their favorite songs and they’ll just have a good time.”

For Dixon, it has been good to get out on tour in spite of the pandemic if only to prove that the world is not going to end.

“All I can say is everything on the news is not true,” he said. “We watch the news and it feels like we’re all supposed to be hunkered down in some bunker somewhere and then you get out on the road. And you realize that the world is not going to end. Everybody’s fine. It’s been a challenge. It’s mainly just the cautionary stuff that people have just gone completely overboard on. That affects us in a negative way in the travel area mainly. But other than that, it’s been a bunch of nonsense really.”

And for anyone that might not be familiar with the band that brought the world “Cherry Pie,” there is an easy solution.

“The best place to start is just going to warrantrocks.com,” Dixon said. “And that has all our links to all our personal social media stuff, all the Warrant social media stuff we post. And we try and post a lot on the road of backstage antics and stuff like that, but warrantrocks is the best place to go, the safest to find the right links.”
