Allen County election results

ALLEN COUNTY— Election Day results are in for Allen County. The resolution for Gas Aggregation in unincorporated areas passed. Gas aggregation allows residents to purchase their gas through an aggregation according to the Commissioners press release.

Residents, however, are not required to enroll in the aggregation. Residents can opt out at any time. The Allen County Commissioners will hold public hearings for anyone who has questions or concerns.

One local veteran who voted shared why he voted in agreement with the resolution and why voting is important.

“It is the reason I defended this country for this freedom,” said David Creps. “I voted yes on the gas aggregation bill. It feels like they should be able to regulate it.”

Statewide residents of Ohio voted on Issue One and Issue Two. Issue One was placed on the ballot for an amendment to the Ohio constitution in regard to the court system. It would require judges to consider public safety when setting bail for defendants. Ohio passed Issue One. It will be in effect immediately.

Issue Two was placed on the ballot for an amendment that would require all voters to be U.S. citizens. Ohio passed Issue Two.

One local resident weighed in on the two issues.

“I voted yes to both issues,” said Ida Johnson. “Issue One and Issue Two. The first one sounded like common sense. There are certain situations and you know no bail if they are a repeat offender. I voted yes on Issue Two; I don’t want non-citizens to vote. It’s the same if you go over to Britain; you can’t vote there if you are an American citizen.”

Also on the ballot were three school levies. Apollo Career Center was approved for a 0.19-mill levy over 10 years for building improvement and maintenance.

Shawnee Local School District was approved for a 2.45-mill levy over 5 years for building construction, remodeling, repair and the purchase of a bus.

The Vantage Career Center was approved for a 0.8-mill levy for 5 years for current expenses.

Perry Township was approved for a 1-mill levy over 5 years for current expenses.

The Delphos Public Library was approved for a 0.6-mill levy over 5 years for current expenses.
