Teen injured in Mercer County ATV incident

OSGOOD — A teen was injured Saturday evening when he was ejected from the all-terrain vehicle he was driving went into a cornfield in Mercer County.

Jacob M. Dahlinghaus, 17, of Tipp City, was transported to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment, according to a report from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

At 7:24 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s office received a report that Dahlinghaus was missing, as he’d left a family gathering on Indian Trail Road in Marion Township aboard a 2011 Polaris Ranger 4×4 and hadn’t returned. As deputies responded to that report, an injury accident involving an ATV was reported at 7:42 p.m. near the intersection of Huwer Road and Homan Road. The vehicle was located in the cornfield, west of Dahlinghaus.

Careflight was called to the scene. The Osgood Squad and Osgood Fire Department also responded to the incident, which remains under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.
