COLUMBUS, Ohio – A number of area teams will be playing in the postseason after the Ohio High School Athletic Association released the first round pairings Sunday.
No. 14 seed Lima Senior (3-7) makes its second consecutive trip to the postseason with a trip to face No. 3 seed Trenton Edgewood (9-1) in Division II Region 8,
In Division III, Wapakoneta (9-1) garnered a No. 4 seed and will host Wilmington (5-5) and No. 12 Celina (6-4 will travel to No. 5 Bellbrook (8-2).
Van Wert (9-1) will face Wauseon (6-4) in the playoffs for the second straight year after the Cougars finished a No. 6 seed and Delaware Buckeye Valley (6-4) comes to St. Marys (8-2) in Division IV.
Unless otherwise noted, all first-round games will be played on Friday with kickoffs set for 7 p.m. The top eight seeds in each region will serve as hosts for the first-round games.
Columbus Grove (8-w) received a sixth seed and will play host to Sullivan Black River (6-4) in Division IV, Region 26 while in Region 28, Allen East (9-1) will entertain Lucasville Valley (6-4) .
In Division VII region 26, Lima Central Catholic (6-4) after getting a No. 4 seed will be home for Tiffin Calvert (6-4) and Waynesfield-Goshen (10-0), a No. 3 seed will be home for Pioneer North Central (6-4). Delphos Jefferson (6-4), a No. 10 seed heads to Ayersville (7-3) while Delphos St. John’s (4-6) travels to Arlington (7-3). No. 9 Pandora-Gilboa (7-3) heads to McGuffey to take on Upper Scioto Valley (8-2) and Hardin Northern (6-4), a 15 seed goes to Antwerp (10-0)
For the second-consecutive season, the top 16 schools in each region have qualified for the postseason, giving playoff berths to 448 schools.
The regional playoffs will follow bracket format (see bracket link below). Second-round games will be played on Nov. 4, at the better seeded team’s venue. Neutral sites will be used beginning in the third round, with Divisions I, II, III and V playing on Nov. 11, and Divisions IV, VI and VII playing on Nov. 12.
