• Allen County Public Health will continue offering updated COVID-19 boosters and influenza vaccines at its off-site immunization clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays at Clock Tower Plaza, 927 N. Cable Road, Lima, in suites 195 and 200, through Friday, Dec. 30.
Already, Ohio Department of Health data show some 1,750 people in Allen County have received a bivalent COVID-19 booster since the CDC approved the updated vaccine formula in September.
The updated boosters were made with two strains of the virus, including the original SARS-CoV-2 and the newer omicron variant, in an effort to improve vaccine function.
• There were two additional deaths attributed to COVID-19 reported in the five-county region in the last seven days, according to the Ohio Department of Health. One was in Allen County, and one was in Hardin County.
• Blanchard Valley Health System has updated its organization-wide COVID-19 masking policy to reflect new CDC guidance. Vaccinated BVHS associates working in non-clinical areas will not be required to wear masks in specified areas during all transmission levels. Visitors and patients screened and found to be asymptomatic with no known exposures will not be required but encouraged to wear a mask. The hospital will provide masks for all visitors and patients if needed.
