City council OKs ordinances

LIMA — Lima City Council met Monday evening to approve new resolutions and ordinances, some of which included the Community Development Block Grant Programs/HOME action plan, Lima Police Department Grant request and the formal designation of the Lima Community Improvement Corporation as an agent for the City of Lima.

According to the communications letter, “The Mayor authorized the adoption and submission of the 2022-2023 annual action plan update of the consolidated plan to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.”

There will be a public participation process for documents and three public hearings. There will be a 30-day public period of commentary on the city’s website. In 2021-2022 the CDBG allocated $1,102,838. In 2022-2023 the CDBG plans to allocate $1,087,241. The HOME program allocated $320,986 in 2021-2022 and plans to allocate $326,176 in 2022-2023. The resources were allocated to various needs throughout Lima.

The Lima Police Department has partnered with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department to apply for and accept a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Program is often used to support law enforcement. The funds, if awarded, will total $25,973. Ten percent of the grant will go to the administration costs.
