Semi strikes bridge over U.S. 30

LIMA — A semi-truck struck a bridge pillar late Thursday evening, leaving one person seriously injured.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at 8:25 p.m., Gavin Dasaur, 27, of Indianapolis was operating a 2013 Peterbilt semi and trailer westbound on U.S. Route 30 when the semi went off the right side of the roadway. The semi struck the guardrail, ramping up and partially over a concrete barrier before striking the easternmost bridge pillar of the state Route 115 overpass on the north side of the roadway, going over the concrete barrier.

Dasaur was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and was ejected from the truck. He was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol and drug involvement are not determined at this time. The accident is still currently under investigation.
