WAPAKONETA — A Wapakoneta woman seeking medical help for a head injury was charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest after a Wapakoneta police officer reportedly broke her finger while responding to the 911 call.
Veronica Sepulveda, 35, and off-duty Lima police officer Tyler Dunlap, 28, were both charged in the incident after Wapakoneta Police Lt. Shannon Place reportedly broke her finger while trying to detain Dunlap, who was accused of interfering with EMS efforts to provide medical aid to Sepulveda, according to Wapakoneta Police.
Medics were called to the Pearl Street residence on June 19 after Sepulveda reportedly hit her head.
Wapakoneta Police declined to release dashboard and body worn camera footage of the incident.
Dunlap’s case was bound over from Auglaize County Municipal Court on Tuesday to a grand jury, which will determine whether enough probable cause exists to merit an indictment, while Sepulveda entered a not guilty plea during her arraignment in June.
Sepulveda was granted bond on her own recognizance and has a pretrial hearing set for 10:30 a.m. July 19 in Auglaize County Municipal Court.
