First sculpture for future VW park donated

VAN WERT — Bandit the Thieving Raccoon is the first sculpture installed at the upcoming Wassenberg Art Park.

Bandit was donated by Michael and Joyce Cross. The small metal sculpture will be seen by pedestrians crossing over the footbridge at Town Creek near Central Street at the future park location.

Construction of the park is scheduled to begin mid-April. Plans include a grain bin concession stand, flowering shade structures, a circular green space and glow-in-the-dark sidewalks.
