Putnam County single vehicle accident leaves passenger with serious injuries

MONROE TOWNSHIP — A Columbus Grove woman sustained serious injuries in a single vehicle crash in Putnam County on Sunday.

The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded around 4:21 p.m. to a the crash on state Route 15, near county Road 19A in Monroe Township.

The driver, David Stevenson, 73, of Lima, was traveling east on state Route 15 and drove across the center line, off the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole and a tree. Stevenson’s front passenger, Jodi Culp, 52, of Columbus Grove, sustained serious injuries and was transported by life flight to Mercy St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. Stevenson was transported to St. Rita’s in an ambulance by Kalida EMS with minor injuries.

Culp was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The State Patrol would like to remind motorists to not drive distracted and to always wear a seat belt.
