Prep roundup: Fort Jennings baseball runs over Arlington

BASEBALL

Fort Jennings 11, Arlington 1

Fort Jennings had a big night at the plate in a 10-run victory over Arlington.

Bryce Gasser led the way with three hits and three RBI. Jarron Swick went 2 for 3 with three stolen bases and Sam Dube had a hit, one RBI and four stolen bases on the evening.

Swick also picked up the win on the mound, going all five innings, striking out nine batters and limiting the Red Devils to one earned run on four hits.

Coldwater 11, LCC 0

A six-run fifth inning pushed Coldwater past LCC.

Mason Welsch, Kenny Bailey and Miles Pottkotter each had two hits for the Cavaliers.

Patrick Henry 3, Columbus Grove 2

Kyle Hopkins pitched five strong innings, struck out seven batters and allowed just two earned runs but was charged with the loss against Patrick Henry.

Riley Sautter had three strikeouts in relief and Caleb Davis went 1 for 3 for the Bulldogs.

Upper Scioto Valley 6, Spencerville 5

Evan Osting had a pair of hits and drove in two runs for the Bearcats, while Nate Wood went 2 for 3 with one RBI.

Spencerville’s Aidan Graham tossed 3 2/3 innings with five strikeouts in the loss.

Defiance 8, Ottawa-Glandorf 1

Brezlen Zipfel tossed a complete game, limiting Ottawa-Glandorf to two hits and one unearned run. Brady Borton had two hits, two runs scored and drove in a pair of runs out of the leadoff spot for the Bulldogs.

Fort Recovery 1, Parkway 0

Reece Wendel scored in the bottom of the eighth inning on a game-winning hit from Caden Grisez. Alex Dues got the win on the mound.

Toledo Whitmer 10, Lima Senior 4

Emmanuel Jokinen-Rutz, Clay Jordan and Blake Hahn each had two hits in the loss.

New Knoxville 9, Waynesfield-Goshen 4

Jay Carter had a pair of hits and drove in three runs for the Tigers.

Waynesfield-Goshen 7, Perry 4

Teagan Kirian had a team-high three RBI for Waynesfield-Goshen and Tarynn Vorhes picked up the win inside the circle.

Fort Loramie 5, Fort Recovery 4

Fort Recovery’s Ava Grisez went 3 for 4 at the plate and Britney Tebbe drove in a pair of runs in the loss.

Columbus Grove 10 Patrick Henry 7

Abby Stechschulte had two hits out of the leadoff spot, Erianne Heffner drove in four runs and Dakota Dunn picked up the win, holding Patrick Henry to two earned runs on five hits.

Paulding 14, Delphos Jefferson 4

The Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season to Paulding in five innings. Carolyn Mueller and Hannah Joseph each had two hits.

Van Buren 7, Ada 6

Jenna Bassitt took the loss for the Bulldogs and Tessa Giffith drove in four runs.

Coldwater 3, St. Henry 2

Madison Wendel had 15 strikeouts for the Cavaliers, including her 800th career strikeout and she she hit the go-ahead home run in the top of the seventh inning.

Defiance 19, Ottawa-Glandorf 1

Ayvah Cullen and Vida Casarez each drove in three runs for Defiance in the decisive victory.
