Bieber pitches into sixth inning, Guardians beat Reds

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — The Cleveland Guardians scored all the runs they needed in the first two innings of a 4-2 exhibition baseball win over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

Guardians starting pitcher Shane Bieber allowed one run and two hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out eight. Reds starter Brandon Williamson allowed all of Cleveland’s run in his two innings on the mound.

In the first inning, the Guardians scored twice on a bases loaded walk and a ground out. They added two more runs in the second inning on a double by Estevan Florial, a triple by Steven Kwan and a wild pitch.

The Reds’ first run came in the sixth inning when Luke Maile doubled and Spencer Steer singled. Maile hit a home run in the eighth inning for the Reds’ other run.
