Elston will leave Michigan to join Harbaugh in L.A.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan defensive line coach Mike Elston, a native of St. Marys, will leave the Wolverines’ coaching staff to join Jim Harbaugh’s staff with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to the NFL Network, The Athletic and other media outlets.

Elston has been Michigan’s defensive line coach the last two seasons. Before that, he was an assistant coach for 12 seasons at Notre Dame.

Elston played for Michigan from 1993 to 1996 and lettered three seasons.
