Roundup: Third quarter leads Leipsic past Pandora-Gilboa

Leipsic 48, Pandora-Gilboa 33

PANDORA — Ava Henry led all scorers with 17 points, as Leipsic used a 12-2 third quarter to pull away at Pandora-Gilboa in both teams’ season-opener.

J. Perry added 14 points for Leipsic, and Leah Kirkendall tallied 11 points.

Pandora-Gilboa looked to Ava Huffman for a team-high 10 points.

Minster 47, Wapakoneta 16

WAPAKONETA — Minster opened the game with a 17-3 run and kept on rolling in a 47-16 victory.

Allen East 55, Bluffton 37

BLUFFTON — Allen East used big runs in the first and fourth quarters to beat tournament host Bluffton and win the championship at the Bluffton McDonald’s Holiday Tournament.

Allen East jumped out to an 18-9 lead after the first quarter and wrapped the game up on a 17-4 run.

Aubrey Young led Allen East (2-0) with 13 points. Taylor Nickles added 12 points, including six each in the first and fourth quarters. Ella Miller tallied 11. Savana Brooks was selected as the tournament most valuable player, with Young and Rilynn Jones making the all-tournament team.

Bluffton’s Ayla Grandey had a game-high 16 points and made the all-tournament team, along with Macy Schaadt.

Perry 59, Fort Jennings 39

FORT JENNINGS — Perry’s Lexanna Lee scored 17 points, and Zy Scott added 12 as Perry won at Fort Jennings.

Perry had a healthy 38-16 lead by halftime.

Maggie Pothast led Fort Jennings with 20 points.

Ottoville 71, Van Wert 27

OTTOVILLE — The Big Green jumped out to a 21-11 lead after one quarter and never looked back in blowing past Van Wert.

Erica Thorbahn led Ottoville (1-0) with 18 points, while Carly Torbahn added 11 and Paige Turnwald has 10.

Bella Behm led Van Wert (0-1) with 12 points.

Arlington 42, Cory-Rawson 33

BLUFFTON — Julia Stewart’s 12 points paced Arlington (1-1) past Cory-Rawson in the consolation game of the Bluffton McDonald’s Holiday Tournament. Stewart also made the all-tournament team.

Chelcie McVetta, who made the all-tournament team, had 18 points for Cory-Rawson (0-2).

McComb 54, Ada 30

McCOMB — McComb’s Morgan Kern scored 21 points, including five 3-pointers, to dismiss Ada.

Ada didn’t have any players with double-figure scoring.

Bath 44, Wauseon 26

WAUSEON — The Wildkittens opened the 2023-24 season with a win on the road.

Lima Central Catholic 38, Ridgemont 26

RIDGEMONT — The Thunderbirds began the year with a road victory.
