Celina football falls to Bishop Watterson

XENIA — Celina’s hopes of making it to the football state championship fell short Friday night, after a 27-14 loss to Bishop Watterson at Xenia’s Doug Adams Stadium.

The Bulldogs scored the first 14 points of the game, on a pair of Braylon Gabes’ rushing touchdowns for a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. That’s when Bishop Watterson came to life, scoring an unanswered 27 points.

Gabes led the Bulldogs with 15 carries for 116 yards. Bobby Morris completed 6 of 12 passes for 69 yards.

Bishop Watterson looked took to the air, with AJ McAninch completing 16 of 23 passes for 270 yards and a touchdown. His top target was Cal Mangini, with eight catches for 118 yards and a touchdown.
