LIMA — The 52nd annual Elks Hoop Shoot recognized five local winners after its competition Saturday, sponsored by the Benevolent Protectorate of Elks Lodge 54 in Lima.
The local winners included Julia Thompson, of Spencerville (8-9 girls); J’Lynn Shaw, of Waynesfield-Goshen (10-11 girls); Hudson Wiechart, of Spencerville (8-9 boys); Owen Klausing, of Spencerville (10-11 boys); and Keaton Elwer, of Delphos St. John’s (12-13 boys).
The Elks Hoop Shoot is a national free-throw shooting contest. Seven area schools participated. The local first-place winners avance to the District Hoop Shoot on Jan. 7 at The Ohio State University-Lima’s Cook Hall. Winners from there advance to state, regional and nation competitions.
