High school football playoffs get started

Area teams started football playoff schedules Friday night.

Division III

Region 12

Celina 49, Hillsboro 7

CELINA — Braylon Gabes had two touchdown runs, a TD pass to Caleb Gabes and returned a punt for another score and Parker Bertke, who had nine carries for 132 yards, Bobby Morris and Carter Harris each had TD runs.

The sixth-seeded Bulldogs (9-2) will next play third-seeded Trotwood-Madison (9-2), a 42-0 winner against Dayton Oakwood.

Wapakoneta 63, New Richmond 21

WAPAKONETA — The third-seeded Redskins (9-2) advanced to play fourth-seeded Vandalia Butler (9-2).

VANDALIA — The 13th-seeded Bulldogs finished their season 5-6.

Region 14

St. Marys 42, Wauseon 14

ST. MARYS — Colton Mabry, who had 23 carries for 177 yards, and Dominik Osborne, who had 22 carries for 127 yards, each had a pair of touchdown runs, Cody Wallace ran for a TD and Carter Steinberg returned a kickoff for another score for the Roughriders (7-4), who will next play top-seeded Sandusky Perkins (10-0), a 44-6 winner against Vermilion.

Van Wert 48, Caledonia River Valley 30

VAN WERT — The sixth-seeded Cougars (8-3) advanced to play third-seeded Shelby, a 40-0 winner against Cleveland Central Catholic.

Glenville 44, Bath 0

CLEVELAND — The 15th-seeded Wildcats finished their season at (4-7).

Division V

Coldwater 47, Indian Lake 0

COLDWATER — Baylen Blockberger completed 10 of 13 pass attempts for 156 with two touchdown throws each to Mason Welsch and Braylen Harlamert.

Jack Ebbing, who had 11 carries for 84 yards, and Harlamert each had two runs and AJ Harlamert returned a kickoff 89 yards for another score.

Region 22

Columbus Grove 42, Kansas Lakota 17

COLUMBUS GROVE — Landon Best had a pair of TD throws to Kyle Hopkins, who had three receptions for 124 yards, as the top-seeded Bulldogs (9-2) advanced to play ninth-seeded Sullivan Black River (8-3), a 24-6 winner against Collins Western Reserve.

Trenton Barraza, who had 10 carries for 104 yards, had a pair of TD runs and Best Josh Ganna each had TD runs also for CG.

Bluffton 63, Paulding 6

BLUFFTON — Garret Bogart had two touchdown passes to Hayden Dearth, who had five catches for 81 yards, and another to Garret Bogart. Landen Worcester had 10 carries for 147 yards and a pair of TDs. Noah Bricker and Dearth each had TD runs and Tyte Giesige returned a kickoff for a touchdown and threw a TD pass to Avery Sprunger also for Bluffton.

The second-seeded Pirates (10-1) moved on to play 10th-seeded Bucyrus Wynford (7-4), a 31-28 overtime winner against Tinora.

Region 24

Anna 58, Allen East 28

ANNA — The ninth-seeded Mustangs finished their season (4-7).

Paint Valley 37, Parkway 23

BAINBRIDGE — Logan Green had 23 carries for 134 yards and a touchdown, Brayden Bruns had a TD run, a touchdown throw to Landen May and kicked a 28-yard field goal for 11th-seeded Parkway (2-9).

Region 26

Crestview 42, Calvert 14

TIFFIN — The 15th-seeded Knights (7-4) advanced to play seventh-seeded Lima Central Catholic (7-3), a 42-20 winner against Ayersville.

McComb 53, Upper Scioto Valley 22

MCCOMB — The 11th-seeded Rams finished their season 8-3).

Marion Local 63, Tri-County North 0

MARIA STEIN — Ethan Heitkamp had three touchdown runs as the top-seeded Flyers (11-0) advanced to play eighth-seeded Cedarville (8-3), a 42-29 winner against Lehman Catholic.

Three of Victor Hoelscher’s four receptions for 84 yards were for touchdowns with two being thrown by Justin Knouff and the other by Brayden Mescher. Parker Hess, who had 11 carries for 80 yards, had a pair of TD runs and Derek Knapke ran for a touchdown.

CINCINNATI — The 13th-seeded Cardinals (4-7) advanced to play Minster.

MINSTER — James Niemeyer had touchdown throws to Noah Schwieterman, Caleb Couse, Kole Richard and Dylan Heitkamp and Justin Bergman, who had 13 carries for 84 yards, James Niemeyer and Connor Schmiesing each had touchdown runs for the fifth-seeded Wildcats (9-2).

St. Henry 28, Riverside 5

DEGRAFF — The 14th-seeded Redskins (4-7) moved on to play 11th-seeded Fort Loramie (6-5), a 42-35 winner against South Charleston Southeastern.
