Cleveland Cavaliers’ season tipoff fan fest canceled

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Cavaliers’ season tipoff fan fest scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21, has been canceled because of the weather forecast.

The fest, set for Playhouse Square, was to include activities, player and mascot appearances, Cavs apparel, food trucks, an interactive mobile trailer with gaming and more.

Fans were invited to RSVP for the free event and register for a sweepstakes to win Cavs tickets. Fans who entered the contest will receive discounts to Cavs games; three winners will be selected for free tickets on opening night when Cleveland hosts Oklahoma City on Friday, Oct. 27.

Saturday, it is expected to be rainy and windy with temperatures in the low 50s.

The fest is not the only Cavaliers-related event Saturday in Cleveland that is off because of the weather. A three-on-three basketball tournament associated with a guns buyback program also is not taking place. The Cavs teamed with Edwins Leadership and Restaurant Institute and Cleveland Police Foundation on the initiative.
