Roundup: Lima Senior finished unbeaten in Toledo City League play

Lima Senior claimed the Toledo City League volleyball championship at 7-0 with a 25-21, 25-19, 25-14 victory Wednesday against Toledo Waite.

Mallory Gipson had 31 assists, Makayla Redd had 11 kills, Makenzie Redd had seven kills and three aces and Honesty Baker finished with 16 digs for the Spartans (9-10), who also won the league junior varsity and freshman championships.

Boys soccer

Van Buren 4, Ada 2

Carson Gossard had a goal off an Andrew Allen assist and Nathan Williams had a tally for Ada. Jacob Rush finished with seven saves also for the Bulldogs.

Girls golf

Division I

FINDLAY — Celina’s Maddie Fleck post a 78 during Wednesday’s Division I girls golf sectional at par 72 Sycamore Springs.

Joining Fleck at districts will be teammate Sara Tester (100) Wapakoneta’s Natalie Hefner (99). No other area golfers finished among the top five individual qualifiers.

No area team also advanced with Lexington (375), Ashland (392), Norwalk (408), Findlay (411) and Ontario (419) qualifying.

Celina (423) finished sixth with Maddicyn Brumbaugh (119) and Brooke Baucher (126) contributing to the Bulldogs’ total.

Lydia Manger (118), Lauren Miller (122) and Emily Klopfenstein (118) helped Wapak post an eighth place 457 total.

Kylie Larimore (124), Kaley Cotrell (129), Lucy Wiltsie (136) and Rachel Clymer (140) combined to give 11th place Shawnee a 529 total.
