Roundup: Minster claims MAC tourney, overall girls golf titles

After going unbeaten in dual matches, Minster secured the Midwest Athletic Conference tournament championship Thursday at the par 72 Mercer County Elks.

The Wildcats finished with a 370 total followed by Parkway 414, St. Henry 420, Versailles 421, Marion Local 447, Fort Recovery 448, New Bremen 452, Delphos St. John’s 458 and Coldwater 461

Ashley Meyer (87), Ashlyn Homan (89), Lauren Heitkamp (91) and Star Weigandt (103) combined for the winning total.

Versailles’ Ella Porter was medalist with an 81.

New Bremen’s Abbie Burden (86), St. Henry’s Lindsay Grieshop (86), Parkway’s Sarah Sheppard 96, Elle Gable (101) from Delphos St. John’s, Fort Recovery’s Olivia Knapke (102), Marion Local’s Natalie Kuess (104) and Coldwater’s Libby Gilmore (111) had the low scores for their respective schools.

Porter was also the player of the year and was joined on the all-MAC first team by Burden, Homan, Emma Garrison (Ver), Gable, Heitkamp, Meyer, Sheppard, Grieshop and Madison Louth (Pa).

Making the second team were Olivia Knapke (FR), Shay Boroff (Pa), Ava Watercutter (SH), Libby Gilmore (Co), Star Weigandt (Mi), Ali Trego (NB), Madison Bruns (Co) and Grace Beyke (SH)

PAYNE — Miller City (192) and Celina (194) finished second and third, Lincolnview (224) was sixth and Delphos Jefferson (229) was seventh behind team champ Ayersville (189) at par 36 Pleasant Valley.

Celina’s Maddie Fleck was medalist with a 38. Miller City’s Chelsea Erford (44), Lincolnview’s Liz Phillips (49) and Jefferson’s Zada Grogg (52) had the low rounds for their respective schools.

Ridgemont won the third and final Northwest Central Conference tournament of the season at Prairie View with North Baltimore, Hardin Northern, Waynesfield-Goshen and Elgin finishing second through fifth respectively.

North Baltimore won the overall team title followed by Ridgemont, Waynesfield-Goshen, Hardin Northern and Elgin.
