KENTON — Celina edged out Defiance using a fifth-score tiebreaker after each team posted a 395 team score to claim the Western Buckeye League girls golf tournament crown Tuesday at par 72 Veterans Memorial Park Golf Club.
Medalist Maddie Fleck (80), Sara Tester (100), Brooke Baucher (105), Maddicyn Brumbaugh (110) and Kiera Hurley (114) contributed to Celina’s victory.
Shawnee (448) finished third followed by Wapakoneta (453), St. Marys (464), Ottawa-Glandorf (477), Kenton (507) and Bath (515)
Defiance’s Ava Hesselschwardt (84), Wapakoneta’s Natalie Hefner (99) Shawnee’s Kaley Cotrell (104), Bath’s Aubrey Gerten (106), St. Marys’ Lilleigh Sampson (108), Ottawa-Glandorf’s Claire Vorst (111) and Kenton’s Rylee Benson and Claire Ketcham (118 each) had the low rounds for their respective schools.
Making the all-WBL first team were Fleck, Hesselschwardt, Kaylee Harsha (Defiance), Hefner, Tester, Cotrell, Baucher, Lauren Sanford (Defiance), Gerten, Sampson, Kenley Manriquez (Defiance) and Brumbaugh.
Honorable mention honors went to Ava Amstutz (Bath), Regan Sibert (Celina), Lilly Whiteford (Defiance), Ketcham, Vorst, Kylie Larimore (Shawnee), Kaitlyn Gross (St. Marys) and Lydia Manger (Wapakoneta)
