Roundup: Wapakoneta’s Jolly commits to play baseball at N.C. State

Wapakoneta’s Grant Jolly has announced he has committed to play college baseball for North Carolina State.

He was the 2023 Western Buckeye League Player of the Year as a sophomore.

HARROD — Allen East (176) had the low team score against Leipsic (180) and Bluffton (191) at par 36 Colonial Golfers Club.

Levi Clum, who shared medalist honors with Leipsic’s Brevin Brandt with a 38, Brady Brooks (43), Donovan Kennedy (47) and Braden Clum (48) combined for the winning total. Evan Speicher led Bluffton with a 47.

LIMA — Brayden Hart, who shared medalist honors with P-G’s Aiden Harris with a 41, Ryan Aldrich (42), Adam Hoersten (44) and Dylan Tumlinson (46) combined for the winning total at par 36 Hidden Creek.

Ryan Hardeman, Evan Sautter, Dalton Hyman, Brody Roof and Michael King won matches for the Bulldogs.

Ottoville 229, Ottawa-Glandorf 229

OTTAWA — Ottoville won on a fifth-score tiebreaker.

Medalist Lexi Honigford (50), Georgia Schnipke (59), Isabelle Furley (60), Liv Hilvers (60) and Ryann Schroeder (64) contributed to the victory. Claire Vorst and Abby Giesege each shot 55 to lead O-G.

The doubles teams of Franziska Kraus and Khyra Lynch and MaKayla Rader and DeeDee Brown won matches for Lima Senior. Teammate MaKayla Rader won her singles match by default.

The Spartans won 25-10, 25-4, 25-10 to go to 6-6 overall and 4-0 in the Toledo City League.

Mallory Gipson had 11 assists and 16 aces, Alaysha Smith had three kills, Makayla Redd had two digs and Ali VanMeter had eight aces for Lima Senior.

INDIANAPOLIS — UNOH faced the NAIA runners-up from 2022. The No. 4 Marian Knights scored one in the first and one in the second to hand the Racers their second loss of the season 2-0.

The first came in the 32nd minute putting the Knights up 1-0 just before halftime. The score held for 56 minutes before Marian added an insurance goal in the 89th minute to cap off the win.

The Knights had a slight edge in the shot total 10-7 but put five on goal to just two for the Racers.

Sohpia Eisner (2-1-0) made three saves in her return from injury taking the first loss of her career.
