Trio win Limaland Motorsports Park invitational features

LIMA — Limaland Motorsports Park swung open the gates for the final time in 2023 Friday night as K&L Ready Mix presented the 2023 Awards Celebration, featuring invitational features for the Midwest Shooting Center DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks, and NRA Sprint Invaders, as well as the presentation of season points awards for the Modifieds and Thunderstocks.

Then all three divisions held the annual King of the Quarter Mile events. No 16 Jeff Koz picked up the win in the Midwest Shooting Center DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, No. 15K Creed Kemenah won the NRA Sprint Invader invitational, and No. 22T Tony Anderson swept the Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks, winning the invitational event as well as the King of The Quarter Mile. The Modified King of The Quarter Mile was won by No. 65 Todd Sherman, and the NRA Sprint Invader King of the Quarter Mile was won by Nate Dussel.

The Midwest Shooting Center DIRTcar UMP Modifieds kicked things off with a 20 lap invitational feature. No. 22T Tony Anderson, and No. 9C Troy Cattarene brought the field to the green flag with Anderson grabbing the lead. No. 16 Jeff Koz started his march to the front right away, and took the lead from Anderson on lap 8. Caution flew for No. 82 Brennan Sherman spinning in turn 2 right in front of his dad, No. 65 Todd Sherman. Todd made heavy contact with Brennan which ultimately sent both to the pits, ending the invitational event for them. On the restart, No. 4M Dustin Moore got tapped in close racing off of turn 2, sending his car hard into the outside retaining wall, bringing out the caution yet again. On the restart, Koz pulled away for the victory against No. 34X Shane O’Connor, who started sixth. Third went to Anderson, fourth to Cattarene, and UNOH Racer Randy Giroux finished fifth in the UNOH No. 01

Next were the Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks in a 15 lap invitational race. No. 22T Tony Anderson and No. 18 Brendan Rassel led the field to the green flag, with Anderson taking the race lead. Rassel kept Anderson, the 2023 track champion in sight, but was unable to close the gap. Anderson got the win followed by Rassel, UNOH Racer Brayden Weller, and No. 87 Andy Welch with 2006 Limaland Thunderstock Champion Shawn Valenti completing the top five.

The NRA Sprint Invaders were next with No. 31 Jac Nickles and No 15K Creed Kemenah leading the field to green. Nickles took the early lead with Kemenah battling alongside through the first 5 laps. Nickles and Kemenah traded the lead multiple times before Kemenah took the lead for good on lap 7. Nickles closed in briefly when the leader got into lapped traffic but had to settle for second place. No. 1 Nate Dussel railed the high side to come home third, with No 20i Kelsey Ivy fourth, and No. 13S Drew Siferd completing the top 5

Following the Award ceremonies for the Modifieds and Thunderstocks, it was time for the 10 lap King of The Quarter Mile Races. The Midwest Shooting Center DIRTcar UMP Modifieds saw the 2023 Limaland Motorsports Park, NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Track Champion Todd Sherman rolling off from fifth starting position to pick up the win. Sherman had to drive his son Brennan’s car No. 82 due to damage received in the invitational race to his No. 65 machine.

In the Lock Sixteen Thunderstock King of the Quarter Mile, No. 22T Tony Anderson bolted to the front and never looked back, picking up the victory against No. 18 Brendan Rassel, No. 82 Chris Douglas, No. 87 Andy Welch, and No. 28V Shawn Valenti.

Completing the night and the 2023 season at Limaland was the 10 lap NRA Sprint Invader King of the Quarter Mile race. No. 15 Creed Kemenah and No. 1 Nate Dussel drew the front row starting spots, and Dussel quickly slammed the door on Kemenah to grab the lead and run away to the victory. No. X Mike Keegan finished second with No. 22H Randy Hannagan third, Kemenah fourth and No 11G Luke Griffith finishing fifth.
