Penn State to be Ohio State’s Scarlet the Shoe opponent

COLUMBUS — Ohio State football wants wall-to-wall red in Ohio Stadium for the Oct. 21 home game against Penn State.

The Buckeyes have designated their last Big Ten East game against their at-times nemesis as the Scarlet the Shoe game. Fans are encouraged to wear all scarlet to blanket the interior of the stadium in that color.

A team spokesman said it was unclear whether OSU will wear all-red color rush uniforms as it has for some such games in the past. It did wear those uniforms for the last Scarlet the Shoe against Penn State, a 33-24 victory in 2021.

Ohio State designated last season’s home game against Iowa for Scarlet the Shoe and won, 54-10.
