Locos edge Mariners in extra innings

CELINA — Eduarny Martinez scored on Anthony Zarlingo’s sacrifice fly in the 11th inning to give the Lima Locos the 3-2 tiebreaker win in Saturday night’s Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League against the Grand Lake Mariners at Montgomery Field.

Both teams scored a run in the first inning with the Locos scoring again in the third inning. The Mariners tied the game with a run in the sixth.

Starting pitcher and Lincolnview graduate Landon Price and Kaden Arn combined to allow two earned runs, seven hits and five walks while striking out eight in nine innings for the Locos. Winning pitcher Micah Takac did not allow a hit or walk while striking out two in the 10th.

Connor Ashby had a solo home run and Landon Underhill doubled for the Locos. Lucas Steele had three hits, including a home run and a double, and Ivan Hoyt doubled for the Mariners.
