Minster Memorial Invitational

MINSTER — Marion Local and Minster won the boys and girls team titles respectively.

The Marion Local boys finished with 143 points with West Liberty-Salem (87) second in the 16 team field.

St. Henry’s Harrison Wendel (100) and Dustin Quinter (discus and shot put) and Marion Local’s Owen Rindler (300 hurdles), Nate Buschur (200 and pole vault) and Dan Bruns (long jump) were among the individual winners.

The New Bremen 3,200 relay team, the St. Henry 400 and 800 relay teams and Marion Local 1,600 relay team also finished first.

The Minster girls posted 137.5 points with Versailles (101) second.

Marion Local’s Grace Moeller (100 hurdles) and Amber Wendel (shot put) and Minster’s Kylie Williams (100), Kayla Lamm (high jump) and Taylor Roth (800) were among the individual winners.

Minster was first in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 relays. Relay members’ names were not reported.

Joe Tussing Invitational

HAMLER — Kalida and Leipsic won the girls and boys crowns respectively.

The Kalida boys finished with 113 points with St. Marys (109.5) second.

Leipsic’s Hayden Hiegel (100 and 200), Diego Baldazo (800) and Seth Apple and St. Marys’ Tyler Birt (3,200) were among the individual event winners.

The Kalida 3,200 relay team of Collin Heitmeyer, Noah Recker, Dawson Schultz and Heath Miller was also first.

The Leipsic girls had 120.5 points with St. Marys (94.5) second.

St. Marys’ Syerra Greber (100 and 200), Maria Jutte (800) and Ella Jacobs (high jump), Miller City’s Andrea Pfau (1,600 and 3,200), Continental’s Rhaegan Marshall (long jump) and Kalida’s Camille Hovest (shot put and discus) were among the event winners.

The 3,200 relay team of Peyton Gabel, Lauren Schloemer, Karlie Lucas and Jutte also finished first.

Wildcat Invitational

NAPOLEON — The Celina girls won the title (189 points) with Eastwood (130) second in the eight team field.

Celina Allison Schwieterman (300 hurdles and 100), Kaylie Dameron (1,600), Natalie Dross (100 hurdles), Amelia Adams (high jump), Rachel Rammel (long jump) and Amelia Lutz (shot put and discus) were among the individual winners.

Celina (125) was second behind Eastwood (130.5) in the boys standings. Celilna’s Colin Buening (3,200) and Kaden Murlin (shot put and discus) were among the individual event winners.

St. John’s Invitational

TOLEDO — Lima Senior’s Zion Jackson was second in the 300 hurdles (40.52 seconds) and long jump (21 feet, 10 inches) and was third in the 110 hurdles (15.6) Friday. Lima Senior finished ninth with 22 points behind first place Toledo St. John’s (120) in the 14-team event.

ADA — Ohio Northern women’s tennis team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday with a 9-0 win over Capital at the West Campus Courts.

The Polar Bears improved to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while dropping the Comets to 8-7 (3-3 OAC) at the West Campus Courts.

Northern opened play by sweeping all three doubles courts.

Abby Cruser and Jenna Bell won 8-4 at No. 1, Jamie Hurst and Julianne Sheldon won 8-0 at No. 2, and Lima Central Catholic graduate Olivia Kesner and senior Flo Sanchez won 8-4 at No. 3.

The Polar Bears wrapped up the match by winning all six singles courts.

Cruser won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1, Hurst won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2, Bell won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, Regan Landis won by retirement at No. 4 after taking the opening set 6-1, Kesner won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and Katie O’Connell won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.

COLUMBUS — Ohio Northern improved to 9-7 overall and 3-1 in the OAC while dropping the Comets to 7-8 (1-4 OAC) at Wolfe Park.

Northern opened play by sweeping all three doubles courts. T.J. Schultz and Tristan Munteanu won 8-3 at No. 1, sPeyton Specht and Drew Swisher won 8-0 at No. 2, and Ada graduate Isaac Spar and Kavya Desai won 8-7 (3) at No. 3.

The Polar Bears wrapped up the match by winning all six singles courts, highlighted by Schultz’s 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5.

Munteanu won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1, Sam Sran won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, Specht won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, Nico Rogel won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 and Spar won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 6.

NEW CONCORD — Grace Wilson tallied six points on four goals and two assists to lead Ohio Northern at North Athletic Turf Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in the OAC while dropping the Muskies to 5-9 (0-5 OAC).

Meredith Miller added three goals and one assist for ONU, and freshman Elena Martin also had a hat trick with three goals.

Keaghan Burden and Elizabeth Graham both finished with four points for Northern. Burden had two goals and two assists, and Graham added one goal and three assists.

ADA — The Ohio Northern men’s lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with a victory at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 10-3 overall and are 5-1 in the OAC while the Muskies fall to 5-8 (1-5 OAC).

John Lynn scored three goals and Riley O’Neal had two goals and three assists for a team-high five points to lead ONU.

ONU’s McMann

sets hits marks

ADA — With four hits on Saturday, fifth-year senior Corey McMann (Flower Mound, Tex./Liberty Christian) broke the school record for career hits as the Ohio Northern baseball team secured a 6-5, 10-7 doubleheader sweep of John Carroll at Wander Field.

The Polar Bears have won seven straight games and improve to 19-9 overall and 7-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while dropping the Blue Streaks to 18-9, 7-3.

McMann entered Saturday’s doubleheader with 194 career hits, which was three shy of the school record of 197 set by Scott Bush from 1998 to 2001. He tallied one hit in Game 1 and got three more in Game 2, breaking Bush’s mark on a ninth-inning single in Northern’s eventual 13-inning victory.

McMann also holds the school record for career doubles with 47.
