Roundup: Fort Jennings edges Temple Christian in OT

FORT JENNINGS — The host Musketeers recovered from being outscored 17-6 in the fourth quarter to earn a 59-58 overtime victory Thursday night against Temple Christian.

Chase Neidert (22), Jaret Maag (15) and Jarron Swick (10) each scored in double digits for Fort Jennings. Landon Callahan had 24 points and Dawson Clay and Ashton Draper had 19 and 12 points respectively for the Pioneers.

ELIDA — The Elida Athletic Department will hold the 2023 Hall of Fame induction Feb. 4. The banquet

will be held in the Elida Commons starting at 1 p.m.. The induction will take place at

ONU ranked No. 14

ADA — The Ohio Northern women’s basketball team is ranked No. 14 in the Week 7 D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll.

The Polar Bears (14-1 overall, 8-0 OAC) received 303 points in the poll and moved up four spots from last week’s poll in which they received 214 points and were ranked No. 18.

ONU has won 11 straight games and is coming off last week’s victories of 53-51 over then-No. 7 Baldwin Wallace and 65-47 over Muskingum. BWU is ranked No. 12 in this week’s poll.

Trinity (Tex.) is the top-ranked team in the poll, receiving 615 points and 17 of 25 first-place votes.

Transylvania (Ky.), Christopher Newport (Va.), Scranton (Pa.) and Smith (Mass.) round out the top five.

The D3hoops.com poll is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, sports information directors and media members from across the country and is published weekly.

Northern is also ranked in this week’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, which was released on Tuesday.

The Polar Bears received 92 points and are ranked No. 15 in the poll.

Christopher Newport is the top-ranked team in the WBCA poll, receiving 247 points and eight of 10 first-place votes.

Trinity, Transylvania, Scranton and Smith round out the top five.

The WBCA NCAA Division III Coaches Poll Committee is composed of one head coach from each of the 10 NCAA Division III conferences.
