Roundup: Lima area swimmers compete in Holiday Invitational

LIMA — Bluffton won the combined team total title and the Wapakoneta claimed the boys crown at Tuesday’s Holiday Invitational held at the Lima Family YMCA.

Bluffton finished with a combined total of 435 with Versailles (384), Ottawa-Glandorf (376), Wapakoneta (369) and Shawnee (329.5) also finishing in the top five.

The Wapak boys had 308 with Bluffton (231), Shawnee (214.5), St. Marys (155) and O-G (151) rounding out the top five.

Versailles (243) won the girls crown with O-G (225), Bluffton (204), New Bremen (156) and Ada (139) finishing second through fifth respectively.

Ada’s Lily Baumgartner broke Emily Murphy’s records in winning the 100 yard butterfly and 100 backstroke.

The Wapakoneta 200 medley relay team of Owen Becker, Ross Honigford, Alex Honigford and Luke Wierwille and the 200 freestyle relay team of Becker, Gannon Casebolt, Wierwille and Alex Honigford were first.

Wierwille also won the 50 and 100 freestyles and Alex Honigford was first in the 500 freestyle. New Bremen’s Andy Jiang (200 IM) and Bluffton’s Jackson Bowlus (100 backstroke) were among the individual race winners and Landon Armstrong, Xavier Diller, Jackson and Riley Verb were first in the 400 freestyle relay.

New Bremen’s Annie Jiang (200 freestyle and 500 freestyle) and O-G’s Marissa Beckett (200 IM) won individual events. Morgan Maag, Abby Klass, Taylor Knott and Beckett teamed up to win the 400 freestyle relay.

DEGRAFF — Landon Callahan (24), Dawson Clay (12) and Caleb Kiser (10) each scored in double digits for Temple Christian.

Marion Local 56, Minster 41

MINSTER — Jack Knapke (16), Tate Hess (14) and Jadyn Mescher (10) reached double digits for the visiting Flyers. Kole Richard led the Wildcats with 15 points.

New Bremen 60, Anna 36

ANNA — Aaron Thieman had 19 points and Alex Homan scored 12 for the visiting Cardinals.

PANDORA — Lainey Thomas had 15 points, Bella Wilson and Katie Good each scored 14 and Emma Martin finished with 13 rebounds for Hardin Northern.

Maddie Rutschilling had 10 points and Paige Ferguson scored seven for P-G.

Leipsic 72, Vanlue 21

LEIPSIC — Whitney Langhals (20), Kyrsten Martinez (13), Ava Henry (11) and Abby Haselman (10) each scored in double digits for the host Vikings.

Coldwater 53, St. Henry 37

CELINA — Riley Rismiller had 24 points and Becca Wenning scored 10 for Coldwater at the Ovisco Classic.

OTTOVILLE — The Bulldogs withstood being outscored 9-4 in the fourth quarter. Jaylen Sautter had seven points and Lauryn Aucmuty scored six for Grove. Jessa Burgei led Ottoville with nine points.

Van Wert 50

VAN WERT — Lyv Lindeman had 30 points and Lauren French scored 16 for Jefferson (9-1). Sofi Houg (20) and Kyra Welch (19) reached double figures for the host Cougars.

BELLEFONTAINE — The Lima Senior boys and girls teams qualified for match play before falling in the quarterfinals at TP Lanes.

The girls fell 2-1 to Troy and the boys were defeated by 2-0 by Washington Courthouse.
