Roundup: St. Marys turns back Celina

ST. MARYS — Aiden Hinkle had 38 carries for 174 yards and four touchdowns as St. Marys (8-2, 7-2 Western Buckeye League) defeated Celina 28-21 to close out the regular season.

Celina’s Nick Adams had TD throws to Adam Faber, who finished with nine catches for 109 yards, and Braylon Gabes. Zander Jones also had a touchdown run for the Bulldogs.

Marion Local 35, Coldwater 0

COLDWATER — The No. 1 ranked Division VI Flyers finished the regular season at 10-0 to claim the Midwest Athletic Conference championship outright and extend their undefeated streak to 26 games.

Darren Meier had four touchdown runs and Kyle Otte rushed 12 times for 164 yards and a TD against the Cavaliers (9-1, 7-1 MAC), ranked No. 1 in Division V.

Wapakoneta 15, Defiance 0

WAPAKONETA — The Redskins (9-1) finished unbeaten in the Western Buckeye League. Jace Knous, who had 21 carries for 230 yards, had a TD run and Kyle Beach connected on a pair of field goals.

Allen East 52, Ada 7

HARROD — Jacob Hershberger had five carries for 130 yards and three touchdowns and completed six of nine pass attempts for 200 yards and a pair of TD throws to Caleb Hopkins, who finished with three catches for 104 yards. Jack Hoel had two TD runs and Braylen Kennedy converted a field also for the Mustangs, who finished 7-0 in the Northwest Conference and are 9-1 heading to the playoffs.

Shawnee 14, Elida 10

ELIDA — Chase Beery had a fourth quarter touchdown run and had a TD throw Keegan Wilson as the Indians (4-6) finished their WBL schedule at 4-5. Brady Kirk had a TD run and Grant Hardeman made a field goal for the Bulldogs (4-6, 3-6 WBL).

Columbus Grove 42, Bluffton 14

BLUFFTON — AJ Schafer had 15 carries for 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Trenton Barrazza had 12 carries for 127 yards and a TD, Landon Best had a TD run and a TD throw to Schafer and Tadd Koch had a touchdown for the Bulldogs (8-2, 6-1 NWC). Griffin Stackhouse had 117 yards and a TD on five carries and Gavin Bogart scored on a 98-yard fumble return for the Pirates (5-5, 4-3 NWC).

OTTAWA — Cy Rump had 20 carries for 119 yards and a touchdown, Grant Schroeder had four catches for for 100 yards and caught a TD pass from Peyton Kuhlman for O-G (2-8, 1-8 WBL). Landon Morman had a TD run, Kaleb Yoder and Ethan Metzger each returned an interception for a score and Tyler Hohenbrink made a field goal also for the Titans.

Blaine Bushong completed 26 of 52 pass attempts for 363 yards and had TD throws to Kooper Johnston, who finished with six receptions for 168 yards, and Tyson Lawrence and Luke Leffler had a touchdown run for the Wildcats (1-9, 1-8 WBL).

Van Wert 42, Bath 14

BATH TOWNSHIP — Aidan Pratt had TD throws to Connor Campbell, Nate Phillips and Maddix Crutchfield and had nine carries for 106 yards and a touchdown. Brylen Parker had a TD run and Reese Krugh returned a fumble for a score also for the Cougars (9-1, 9-1 WBL). Zach Welsch had TD passes to Mikey Hale and Vinny Vendetta for Bath (0-10, 0-9 WBL).

FORT LORAMIE — LCC finished the regular season at 6-4.

RAWSON — Ethan Luginbill had 14 carries for 134 yards and four touchdowns and Cory Gerten completed 16 of 21 pass attempts for 281 and a pair of TD throws to Aidan Morris, who finished with nine receptions for school record 206 yards and scored on a kickoff return for the Rockets (7-3, 5-2 Blanchard Valley Conference).

Upper Scioto Valley 46, Ridgemont 24

MT. VICTORY — USV finished the regular season at 8-2 and 6-1 in the NWCC while Ridgement closed out the year 4-6 (3-4 NWCC).

MORRAL — The Commodores finished their season 1-9 overall and 1-7 in the NWCC.

Anna 39, Parkway 21

ANNA — Brayden Bruns had TD throws to Fletcher Smith and Landen May and had a touchdown run for Parkway (2-8, 1-7 MAC)

Leipsic 42, Crestview 7

LEIPSIC — Estevan Carrillo had 20 carries for 137 yards and a trio of touchdowns, Tyler Lammers had TD throws to Jayce Brecht and Jacob Scheckelhoff and Hayden Hiegel had a pair of TD runs for the Vikings (4-6, 3-4 NWC). Carson Hunter threw a TD pass to Kellin Putman for the Knights (4-6, 1-6 NWC).

St. Henry 22, Fort Recovery 21

ST. HENRY — Harrison Wendel had 31 carries for 146 yards and three touchdowns as St. Henry finished the regular season 2-8 and 1-7 in the MAC. Cale Rammel completed 23 of 33 pass attempts for 316 yards and a pair of TD throws to Troy Homan, who finished with 13 receptions for 199 yards, and another to Riggs Tobe for Fort Recovery (3-7, 2-6 MAC).

D-I boys state golf

COLUMBUS — Elida’s Carson Harmon is tied for 12th after an opening round 78 at The Ohio State University’s par 71 Scarlet Course. St. Ignatius’ Bradley Chill had low first round with a 72. The final round is scheduled for today at the same venue.

Division II state tennis

MASON — None of the Lima area singles players or doubles teams advanced out of the opening round at Lindner Family Tennis Center.

In singles, Shawnee’s Alora Patel dropped a 6-2, 6-0 match to Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown’s Summer Mu and Lima Central Catholic’s Libby Simmons fell 6-2, 6-1 to South Point’s Meredith Riley.

In doubles, Bath’s Elena Oliver and Anne Oliver were defeated 6-2, 6-4 by Gates Mills Hawken’s Dani Forte and Bella Hsieh and Perry’s Audrey Austin and Lily Walker triumphed 6-0, 6-0 against LCC’s Paige Brinkman and Claire Janowski.
