Bluffton downs Pandora-Gilboa in four sets

Bluffton 3, Pandora-Gilboa 1

PANDORA — Blufton won 25-18, 23-24, 25-17 and 25-17. Bluffton’s Gracie Yarnell had 32 assists, 16 digs, four blocks and three aces and Ayla Grandey notched 13 kills and five blocks. Morgan Fruchey and Kendall Stackhouse each recorded 10 kills. Avery Talavinia had 19 digs and two aces.

Boys golf

Elida 170, Bath 184

Elida’s Carson Harmon was the medalist with a score of 35. Other Bulldog scores were Brice Engle (41), Ben Moening (46), Griffin Burton (48), Caleb Harmon (49) and Carter Davisson (49). For Bath, Ezra Bolon and Connor Raines shared top team scores with scores of 45. Other Wildcat scores were Braden Binkley (46), Daniel Bolon (48) and Brayden Kaple (55).

Miller City 176, Lima Central Catholic 180, Pandora-Gilboa 188

KALIDA — Lima Central Catholic’s Parker Judy was the medalist with a score of 32. Other T-Bird scores were Zac Campbell 43, Bridget Mulcahy 50, Cam Stewart 55 and Austin Craig 59. Miller City’s Thomas Weis led his team with a 40. Other team scores were Will Otto (44), Jude Otto (45), Jesse Lammers (47), Andrew Weis (49) and Caleb Niese (51). Pandora-Gilboa’s Owen Huffman and Elam Suter led the Rockets with 45s. Other team scores were Aiden Harris (47), Zach Neuenschwander (51) and Anna Parkins (73).

Leipsic 167, Delphos Jefferson 179, Allen East 200, Spencerville 201

DELPHOS — Delphos Jefferson’s Isaac Gallmeier was the medalist with a 37. Other Wildcat team scores were Kayden Slygh (46), Caden Carder (48), Brady DuVall (48), Kellen Carder (49) and Casey Knippen 51. Leading leipsic was Brevin Brandt and Luke Spoors both shot 39s. Other team scores were Diego Lomeli (49) Nick Schroeder (50) and Blane Schroeder (50). Allen East’s Levi Clum led his team with a 41. Other Mustang scores were Jalen Johnson (48), Braden Clum (51), Jacob Haney (60) and Donovan Kennedy (64). Spencerville’s Michael Woods shot a 45 to lead the Bearcats team. Other scores were Owen Sensabaugh (52), Kam Jamison (42) and Tristan Shaw (52).

Girls Tennis

Lima Central Catholic 5, Lima Senior 0

Lima Central Catholic got singles wins from Libby Simmns, Alexa Heffner and Maria Pignataro and a doubles win from Emma Skinner and Mya Raczynski.

Wapakoneta 4, Bluffton 1

ADA — Wapakoneta got singles wins from Bailey Barrett, Addie Cooper and Elisabeth Good and a doubles win from the pair of Abbie Hamill and Jenna Kohler. Bluffton got a doubles victory from the team of Brooke Camper and Caitlyn Couch.

Girls Soccer

Perrysburg 4, Ottawa-Glandorf 1

OTTAWA — Ottawa-Glandorf’s Makenna Sieker scored the lone goal for the Titans and Lily Haselman was credited with an assists. Titan keeper Elli McCrate recorded eight saves.

Elida 1, Riverside 1

Elida’s Jojo Knight scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs.

ONU ranked

ADA — The Ohio Northern volleyball team will open the 2022 season ranked No. 23 nationally in the preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll, which was released this week.

The Polar Bears received 335 points in the poll.

Ohio Northern was ranked No. 20 in the final 2021 poll.

ONU went 22-6 overall, won the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA III Tournament in 2021 under head coach Katie Kuhn.

National champion Wisconsin-Eau Claire is ranked No. 1 with 2,165 points and 72 first-place votes. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) is second with 2,125 points and 11 first place votes and Calvin (Mich.) is third with 2,074 points and four first place votes.

Cross-Country

ONU ranked

ADA — The Ohio Northern women’s cross country team will open its 2022 season ranked No. 33 nationally in the USTFCCCA preseason Apoll, which was released on Wednesday.

The Polar Bears received 28 points in the poll.

ONU went 95-31 overall and was third in the Ohio Athletic Conference in 2021 under head coach Jason Maus.

Defending national champion SUNY-Geneseo is ranked No. 1 with 347 points and seven first-place votes. Wartburg (Iowa) is second with 336 points and Johns Hopkins (Md.) is third with 331 points and three first place votes.

The Polar Bears will open their 2022 season Sept. 3 when they host their annual Polar Bear Invitational.
