Locos clinch playoff spot

RICHMOND —The Lima Locos are heading to the postseason after posting a 15-5 victory over Richmond Friday night.

Because the Locos owned the head to head tiebreaker over Jet Box, Lima clinched the spot with the win. The Locos are 20-17 win one game left in the regular season.

The semifinals begin with a trip to Michigan (22-14) to face the first-place Monarchs at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Locos’ Patrick Dillon picked up the win after going five and one-third innings and giving up two hits, two runs while striking out 10 and walking three. Kevin Bellamy tossed an inning and two-thirds and gave up five runs on three hits. Grant Reising pitched one inning and fanned two while walking two and not giving up a run.

The Locos pounded out 19 hits and led 13-3 after six innings.

Brayden White went 4 for 5 with 5 RBI and a run and Cade Sadler drove in three runs, going 3 for 4 with a run scored. DJ Jackson went 3 for 5 with an RBI and two runs and Josh Mozek was 2 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored. Isaiah Velazco scored four times, collecting three hits and driving in a run.
