Roundup: Duo tie for low junior golf tourney score

VAN WERT — Boys 16-18 winner Louis Magoto from Minster and girls 16-18 champ Kayla Watkins from Bellefontaine each shot 2-over-par 74s to tie for medalist honors in Thursday’s Lima Junior Golf Association McDonald’s Junior Series Fuerst Family Chiropractic & Northwest Ohio Welch Trophy Open at Hickory Sticks Golf Club.

Jack Gerker defeated fellow Delphos player Collin Feathers in a playoff for second place after each shot 76. DeGraff’s Zoey Merritt was second in the girls 16-18 division with a 79.

Van Wert’s Keaton Foster was the boys 14-15 winner with a 77. Lima’s Levi Clum (90) was second.

In the nine-hole competition, Ottoville’s Evan Altenburger topped Wapakoneta’s Henry Eley in a playoff for the boys 12-13 top spot after each shot 39. Greenville’s Reagan Brewer had the girls 15 and younger score with a 44. Troy’s Morgan Maxwell was second with a 52.

Greenville’s Lyla Brewer won the PeeWee competition with a 42. Fort Recovery’s Camden LeFevre (45) was runner-up.
