Lima area sports calendar

ALL ABILITIES CAMP

Coldwater: District 8 Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will be playing host to an all abilities camp from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 9, at Cavalier Stadium. Check-in opens at 4:30 p.m. July 8 and 8:30 a.m. July 9. There will also be an awards banquet from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. July 9. The free camp is designed for all-abilities individuals from 5 to to 35 years old. Each camper will be paired with a buddy, who will join in the activities as well as assist and encourage the participant for the duration of the camp. Volunteers are needed. Activities will include football, soccer, baseball/softball, physical fitness, a ninja warrior obstacle course and more. There will also be a daily spiritual theme or lesson. Campers will be taught how to work together as a team and how to deal with victories and challenges that are often presented in sports and life. ARCHERY

Allen County: The Allen County Archers hold 3-D shoots the first Saturday and Sunday of each month through September. It is open to all equipment. They are also holding traditional 3-D shoots on the third Saturday of the month all year long weather permitting. They are open to all archery equipment. The Archers will be holding a “stump shoot” for traditional bows only the fourth Saturday of each month weather permitting. BASEBALL

Celina: The Grand Lake Mariners and Celina High School teams will be holding a raffle drawing during the July 17 game against the Lima Locos at Montgomery Field. Tickets are $20 or three for $50 (need not be present to win) and can be purchased during Mariners home games and at C-Town Wings and Celina Vacuum in Celina, McSports in Coldwater, Gel’s IGA in St. Henry, Moeller Brew Barn in Maria Stein and Second Crossing Brewing Company in Rockford.

BASKETBALL

Lima: Xavier Simpson will conduct two basketball camps — one June 25 and another July 30 — at the Lima Family YMCA for boys and girls in grades kindergarten through ninth grade. A session for kindergarten through fifth grade is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon and a session for grades 6-9 is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. Cost is $85. Lima: A 1ENT Tyler Ulis and NFL Xavier Simpson All-Star and Celebrity Game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Lima Senior High School. Tickets range from $10 to $100. Funds raised will go to the Tyler Ulis Foundation. Head to tinyurl.com/UlisFoundationHoops for more information.

DAY CAMP

Lima: Kids will be taken through a summer of discovery until Aug. 19 at the Lima Family YMCA at 345 S. Elizabeth St. Space is limited so parents are encouraged to register early with camp packets available at the YMCA desk. Cost is $85 per week for members and $110 for nonmembers. EQUESTRIAN

Cridersville: The Equestrian Therapy Program will be having a Bingo Bonanza: Bags and Bourbon at Fassett Farm, 22532 Grubb/Bowsher Road on Saturday, June 25. Tickets are $100 and include 10 bingo games, food and open bar with wine and beer. The prizes are designer purses or a bottle of bourbon. Tickets at the door will be $125 and a table of eight is $700. Cost without bingo games is $75. There will also be a 50/50 drawing and raffle. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with bingo at 7:30 p.m. Must be at least 21 years old to attend. All proceeds will benefit equestrian therapy. FOOTBALL

Lima: Jarrod Pughsley’s Big Man Two Day Camp for offensive and defensive linemen in grades nine through 12 will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 8 and 9 at Spartan Stadium. GOLF

Lima: Ohio Golf Concepts, through Tamarac Golf Course, is offering boys and girls in grades six through eight a free program from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Fridays until July 29. There will be no session July 1. Those interested should call Jim Maley at 419-331-0412. The program is limited to 40 participants.

Lima: The Lima Senior High School Athletic Department will hold its first four player scramble with a 9 a.m. shotgun start Saturday, June 25, at Tamarac Golf Course. The outing will benefit athletic programs and student athletes. The cost is $60 a person or $240 a team, which includes lunch, cart and green fees. The deadline to register is June 20.There will also be door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, a skins game for $20 per team and mulligans for $5 each (max four per team). Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third-place teams. Send entries (including names, addresses and phone numbers of each player on the team) to the Lima Senior Athletic Department, c/o John Zell, 1 Spartan Way, Lima, OH 45801. Harrod: The Jon Shively Memorial Scramble will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Colonial Golfers Club. Cost is $60 per person or $240 per team. Fee includes 18 holes, cart, a meal ticket and drink tickets. There will also be a 50/50 drawing, proximities on selected holes and a skins game. Hole sponsorships are also available. The Shively Memorial Scholarship fund will receive $500 with the remaining proceeds being split between the Perry football and baseball programs. Van Wert: The State Lefthanders Tournament will be played Saturday, July 16, and Sunday, July 17, at Hickory Sticks Golf Club with an 8:30 a.m shotgun start both days. The tournament is open to any left-handed golfers. Players will be placed in divisions 17 and younger, 18-69 and a super senior division for players 70 and older. Players will be divided into flights July 17 by what score they shoot July 16. Prizes will be awarded to the top three in each flight. Cost is $60 for the 17 and young division and $160 for all others. For those playing for the first time in the state tourney the cost is $100. HORSESHOES

Lima: The Allen County Horseshoe Pitchers, located at 1815 C St., have openings in leagues and doubles. Open doubles begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturdays. Corn hole leagues are forming. MOTORCYCLE RACING

Lima: The Mission Lima Half-Mile will be held Saturday, June 25, at the Allen County Fairgrounds. Gates open for fans at 2:30 p.m. with practice at 3:30 p.m., opening ceremonies at 6 p.m., open pits at 8 p.m. and the main events at 9:25 p.m. For tickets and more information go to limahalfmile.com.

PICKLEBALL

Lima: Pickleball is played at Bradfield Center from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. All skill levels are welcome.

Lima: The Lima YMCA is holding open pickleball play from 10 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (appointment only). SOFTBALL

Grand Lake: The fall league is taking registrations for this year. The fastpitch league will be divided up into four divisions this year: ninth through 12th grade, sixth through eighth grade, third through fifth grade and a travel team division for 16 and under and 18 and under teams. The league will play two games Sundays for five weeks, There are no practices in order to avoid any conflicts with other activities. TENNIS

Lima: The LATA tournaments are being held at UNOH. The doubles event is scheduled for Friday, July 15, to Sunday, July 17. Mixed doubles is slated for Friday, July 29, to Sunday, July 31, and juniors are down to compete Saturday, July 30, and Sunday, July 31. Cost for singles is $30 for non LATA members, $20 for LATA members and $15 for those in high school. Doubles and mixed doubles is $40 per team and the cost to be part of the junoir event for those entering eighth grade and younger is $15. Lima: The Lima Sabres have various shooting events. Thursday Trap Practice for Adults/Juniors/Beginners is 4 p.m. weekly. Adult Trap Practice is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, weather permitting. YMCA CLASSES

Lima: The Lima Family YMCA offersclasses for adults, including karate, swimming, Water Aerobics, arthritis aquatics, chair exercise classes, yoga (chair and regular), HIIT, BodyPump, Yoga Pilates Flow, core workout CX, combat, Zumba, cardio and tone and cycling.
