Roundup: Lima City Men’s Golf Championship starts

The Lima City Men’s Golf Championship got started Wednesday with Open and Senior Division qualifying.

At Colonial Golfers Club, Josh Gaines had the low Open Division score of 4-over-par 76.

At Hidden Creek Golf Club, Gary Karch shot a 4-under 68 for the low Senior Championship Division total, earning him the top seed. Greg Buchanan was the Senior Open Division medalist with a 71. In the Super Senior Division, Dennis Thompson led the way with a 70.

Gaines (First Flight), Nick Thomas (second flight), Buchanan (Senior Open I), Mike Miller (Senior Open II), Thompson (Super Senior I) and Willie McGuire (Super Senior II) also are top seeds.

Today, the First and Second Flights will play at Springbrook Golf Club, the senior divisions will be at Colonial Golfers Club and the Championship Flight qualifying is being held at Hidden Creek Golf Club.

MUSKEGON — The hosts scored three times in the bottom of the ninth to secure the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League win.

Isaiah Velazco (Glendale Community College) and Bryant Herring (Kennesaw State) each had two hits and two RBI and Diego Gines (Indiana State), Jayden Davis (Samford) and Shawnee graduate Jacob Hutchins (Niagara) each had two hits for the Locos.
