Division changes in high school hoops

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Several area high school basetball teams will be changes in divisions after The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced Tuesday the new divisional breakdowns for the upcoming winter sports. The OHSAA Board of Directors approved the new divisions during its June meeting late last week.

In girls basketball, Bluftton Perry, a and will move down from Division III to Division IV next year. Fort Recovery and Parkway move up from Division IV to Division III.

In boys basketball, Delphos Jeffersonmove down from Division IV moves down from Division III to Division IV and Columbus Grove and Spencerville move up from Division IV to Division III. Bathmoves up from Division III to Division II.

Fall sports divisional breakdowns were announced Monday, while the spring sports will be announced in September.

The OHSAA uses enrollment data provided by the Ohio Department of Education to determine each school’s base enrollment numbers for girls and boys sports, which will be used for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years. Among the OHSAA’s winter sports, only basketball utilizes competitive balance data, therefore it is reconfigured every season. Sports that do not utilize competitive balance data are reconfigured every two years.

Reineke Ford Open results

HARROD — Carson Harmon took top honors in the 16-18 year division of the Reineke Ford Open held at ColonGolfers Club as part of the Lima Junior Golf Association Tournaments Tuesday.

Harmon finished first with a 70 followed by Isaac Gallmeier with an 80 and Ross Diaz with a 76.

Despite all shooting 77s, Zoe Merrit was first after winning a playoff, follwed by Kayla Nartker and Bridgey Mulchaey.

In the boys 14-15 age bracket, Connor Nartker was first with a 77 and Brody Miller was second with a 79. Henry Peterson was third with a 79.

Paul Stechschulte captured first in the 12-12 boys bracket with a nne hole 39. Evan Altenburger was second with a 40 and Treg Meyer rounded out the top three with a 44.
