SANDUSKY — Josh Mrozek (Kent State) knocked in Carson Garner (Murray State) with the winning run on a fielder’s choice in the top of ninth inning to give the Lima Locos a 4-3 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League victory in the first of two Thursday games against Sandusky Bay.
The Locos trailed 3-0 after four innings in a game resumed after being halted due to rain Wednesday night.
Lima scored twice in the fifth inning and once in the seventh to tie the game.
Lima’s Brayden White (Toledo) had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI and Mrozek had a pair of RBI. Thursday’s second game ended after deadline. Lima’s home opener is scheduled for 7:05 tonight against Michigan. Check out a Locos special section in today’s edition of the Lima News.
The Locos then defeated the Ice Haulers 10-6. Garner had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and three RBI and teammate Cade Sadler (Kennesaw State) had three hits and three RBI.

LIMA — Lima’s Carson Harmon shot a 3-under-par 69 to win the boys 16-18 division and finish with the low total in Thursday’s Lima Junior Golf Association McDonald’s Junior Series Heartlight Pharmacy Open at Oaks Golf Club.
Botkins Ross Dietz was second with a 74.
Lima’s Bridget Mulcahy defeated Ottawa’s Kayla Nartker in a playoff to win the girls 16-18 title after each shot 72.
Payne’s Kyle Sutton was the boys 14-15 champ with a 77, two strokes lower than second place Connor Nartker from Ottawa.
In the nine-hole competition, Kalida’s Paul Stechschulte was the boys 12-13 winner with a 40, one stroke lower than runner-up Evan Altenburger. Elida’s Tobin Amspoker finished atop the leader board in the PeeWee 11 and younger competition with a 38. Fort Recovery’s Camden LeFevre was next with a 45. There was no girls 15 & younger competition.

COLDWATER — Winning pitcher Justin Kaup did not permit an earned run or walk and allowed three hits while striking out four in seven innings. Celina’s Caleb Stephenson did not give up an earned run and allowed one hit and a single walk while striking out two in six innings.
