Inclement weather has resulted in several high school baseball district semifinals being moved to Friday.
In Division II, Wapakoneta plays Celina at 3:30 p.m. at Bluffton University.
In D-III, Pemberville Eastwood plays Minster at 2 p.m. followed by Coldwater against Bath at 4:30 p.m. at Elida’s Ed Sandy Field.
In D-IV, the suspended game with Lima Central Catholic leading St. Henry 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning is scheduled to resume in Coldwater at 6 p.m. The winner will face Lincolnview.
Also today, Leipsic and Miller City play for a D-IV district title at 5 p.m. at Patrick Henry and Lincolnview takes on West Unity Hilltop at 5 p.m. in Clyde for a D-IV softball state semifinal berth.

PIQUA — Celina’s Amelia Lutz won the shot put with St. Marys’ Kaci Anthony finishing fifth. In the 3,200 relay Ottawa-Glandorf’s Alexa Fortman, Rose Turnwald, Olivia Fenbert and Madelyn Hovest qualified for state with a fourth place. Celina’s Emily Schwieterman, Raven Harris, Joscelyn Dameron and Kaylie Dameron were sixth. In the high jump, St. Marys’ Ella Jacobs was fifth. Celina is in first team standings with 13 points with St. Marys (8) eighth and O-G (5) 13th.
In the boys competition, Van Wert’s Trey Laudick, Hunter Sherer, Gage Springer, Gage Wannemacher and Rylan Miller won the 3,200. Bath’s Xavier Griffiths and Lucas Prichard were third and fourth respectively in the discus putting the Wildcats in third place with 11 points, one point ahead of Van Wert. West Liberty-Salem lead with 19 points.
At Lexington, Kenton’s Parker Rarey was third in the discus. The Wildcats’ Tatum Miller was fifth in the shot put.
The first four individual or relay teams in each event will qualify for state. In addition, the next two best times, distances and heights statewide in each event will be invited to the state meet as well.

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference released its postseason awards Columbus Grove graduate Gabriel Clement (decathlon, javelin), Elida grad Gabe Makin (pole vault) and Kalida grad Josh Verhoff (200) from the University of Findlay among those earning second team recognition.

for ONU’s Pitcovich
ADA — Ohio Northern’s Tessa Pitcovich was named first team Academic All-District 7 by the College Sports Information Directors of America for the 2021-22 season.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the competition realm and in the classroom. There were 10 selections for District 7, which includes schools in Ohio, Illinois and Indiana.

in pole vault
GENEVA — Ohio Northern’s Anna Schatzle cleared a height of 3.60 meters to place 20th in the pole vault Thursday at the NCAA Division III Championships at the SPIRE Institute.
The pole vault event was moved indoors due to high gusts of wind reaching 25 mph.
