Roundup: Lincolnview secures D-IV district softball crown

WAPAKONETA — Lincolnview earned a regional semifinal spot with a 10-5 Division IV district final victory Friday against Fort Recovery.

Zadria King had three hits, including a double, and an RBI, Addysen Stevens had two hits, including a triple, and two RBI, Andi Webb had two hits and two RBI and Taylor Post had a hit and three RBI for the Lancers, who will play Sycamore Mohawk, a 11-6 winner against Plymouth, at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Clyde.

Emma Will had three hits and an RBI and Maddie Guggenbiller had two hits, including a double, and two RBI for the Indians.

Ethan Rupert had had two hits, including a triple, and two RBI and Briston Wise had three hits, including a double and a triple, and three RBI as the Cougars advanced to play the Napoleon-Toledo Central Catholic winner at 6 p.m. Thursday at Archbold.

OTTAWA — Nate Maag reached third on a stolen base and scored the winning run on an error in the bottom of the seventh. Maag finished with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Colin White had three hits and an RBI and Dylan Leopold had two hits, including a double, and an RBI also for O-G, which moved on to play Defiance, a 3-0 winner against Rossford, at 4 p.m. Thursday at Archbold.

CELINA — Winning pitcher Quinn Andrew allowed two hits and a walk while striking out six in seven innings. Dylan Feister had a double and two RBI and teammate Jack Hasson had two hits. Celina will play Wapakoneta at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bluffton Village Park.

ONTARIO — Ontario advanced to play Columbian, a 9-3 winner against Elida at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Bluffton Village Park

PEMBERVILLE — Winning pitcher Lake Boos did not allow any hits and recorded four walks while striking out nine in five innings.

HARROD — Winning pitcher Trevor Robinson allowed four hits and four walks while striking out 11 in six innings. Brent Rader had a double and a pair of homers, Luke Leffler had a home run and two RBI and Anthony Hunt had two hits and an RBI. Braylen Kennedy had a pair of hits for Allen East. The Wildcats will play at noon today at Coldwater.

NAIA Championships

SILVIS, Ill. — The University of Northwestern Ohio’s Michael Robson finished in a tie for 27th with a four-round total of 288 at TPC at Deere Run. Master’s University’s Jack Dudeck and Keiser University’s Jakob Stavang Stubhaug finished tied for first at 8-under 276 with Stubhaug winning a playoff for the individual crown.

ADA — Eight Ohio Northern players were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference for 2022 in voting conducted by the league’s head coaches.

Vinh Thai and Andrew Cochran were named first team all-conference. Ada graduate Zach Beaschler, Sam Sran, Peyton Specht and Tristan Munteanu were second team selections, and Matt Garcia and Drew Swisher earned honorable mention accolades. Capital’s Colin Welch, an Ottawa-Glandorf grad, received honorable mention recognition.

The conference also named Mike Bonnell as the league’s Coach of the Year.

Cochran was also named to the Academic All-District 7 At-Large First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

ADA — Six Ohio Northern players were named All-OAC for 2022 in voting conducted by the league’s head coaches.

Katie Curry and Lima Central Catholic grad Olivia Kesner were named first team all-conference, Regan Landis and Ada grad Miranda Wills were second team selections, and Jeorgia Templin and Katie O’Connell received honorable mention honors.

Adams recognized

ADA — Ohio Northern’s Jeremy Adams was named to the Academic All-District 7 At-Large First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America for the 2021-22 season.

Adams helped lead the Ohio Northern to a 4-0 record in regular-season conference dual meets and a second-place finish at the OAC Championships this past season. He was named OAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week five times and had six All-OAC finishes.
