Arizona high school hires ex-Lima Senior football coach

TEMPE, Arizona — Former Lima Senior coach Mike Fell will become the head football coach at McClintock High School in Tempe, Arizona, pending approval by the district’s governing board at its next meeting on March 2.

The school put a press release on its website announcing it would recommend him as its next coach on Thursday and he posted the news that he was getting the job on his Facebook page on Friday afternoon.

Fell, a Lima Senior graduate, has a 219-114 career record in 31 seasons as a head coach at Columbus Grove, Celina, Ada, Lima Senior and Mesa Mountain View. Sixteen of his teams have played in the playoffs.

He was 28-20 in five seasons at Mountain View, including 6-2 in his final season there in 2020, after moving to Arizona from Ohio. His coaching contract at Mountain View was not renewed and he was replaced by former Ohio State quarterback Joe Germaine in 2021. He was out of coaching last season.

McClintock High School had an enrollment of 1,691 students during the 2020-21 school year. It is a Division 5A school, the second-highest division in Arizona.
