Roundup: Allen East, Bluffton advance to girls hoops tourney title game

BLUFFTON — Allen East and the host Pirates will play for the McDonald’s Holiday Girls Basketball title after victories Friday night.

Rilynn Jones had 18 points and Kennedy Truex and Elle Richardson scored 14 each for the Mustangs to open the season.

Bluffton 52,

Cory-Rawson 25

Sami Scoles had 12 points and Kylie Stackhouse and Kylie Monday scored nine each for the Pirates. Paige McVetta had eight points to lead C-R.

Cory-Rawson will play Arlington in the consolation game at 1:30 p.m. with the championship game to follow.

Bath 54, Lima Senior 24

BATH TOWNSHIP — The host Wildkittens defeated Lima Senior 54-24 to reach the championship game. Ava Craddock had 14 points and Elena Oliver and Rachel Clark scored 10 each for Bath. Lima Senior’s individual scoring was not reported by deadline.

Marion Local 43, Bryan 33

Sammy Hoelscher had 14 points and Stella Huelsman scored 10 for Marion Local.

Bath will play Marion Local in the title game at noon today with the consolation encounter to follow.

LCC 54, Ridgemont 36

MOUNT VICTORY — Olivia Stolly had 25 points and Bridget Mulcahy scored 15 for Lima Central Catholic. Ridgemont’s individual scoring was not reported.

Crestview 47, Ottoville 42

CONVOY — Cali Gregory had 13 points and Ellie Kline and Laci McCoy score 10 each for Crestview. Erica Thorbahn had 15 points and Elise Kramer scored 14 for Ottoville.

FORT JENNINGS — Lydia Dickman had 14 points and Abby Koester scored eight for the host Musketeers. Bryce James had 13 points and Lexenna Lee scored seven for Perry.

PANDORA — Marisa Hermiller (19), Whitney Langhals (18), Ava Henry (10) and Jocie Hermiller (10) each reached double digits for the Vikings. Lacie Fenstermaker had 18 points and Taelor Miller score seven for P-G.

ST. MARYS — Noey Ruane (24), Morgan Hesse (13), Kendall Dieringer (13) and Karsyn McGlothen (10) each score in double digits for the Roughriders.

DEFIANCE — Abi Lammers had 22 points and Carley Hermiller scored six for Miller City.

WAPAKONETA — Katie McClurg had 18 points and Morgan Sparks and Elia Meschen scored seven each for the Wildcats. Katie Lisi had 11 points and Reagan Courter scored nine for the Redsksins.

Lima Senior graduate and Michigan alum Xavier Simpson has been named to the November USA World Cup Qualifying Team.

The USA squad will train Nov. 20-25 at the University of Houston and will participate in the first competition window of the 2021-23 FIBA World Cup Qualifying games, which will be played in a bubble format in Chihuahua, Mexico. The Americans will face Cuba at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 28 and will meet host Mexico at 9 p.m. Nov. 29. Simpson also played for the NBA G League’s Oklahoma City Blue and the Los Angles Lakers in the 2021 NBA Las Vegas Summer League.
