Coach’s analysis: Wildcats lost another outstanding group of eight young ladies from 2020-21 season. They carried the leadership of our team. They were part of 100 varsity wins in their four years. Return limited varsity experience (have to find our leaders). Development of our inside post game will be important to our team achievements. Experiences gained from deep tournament runs last several years hope to prove important. Depth is huge to our style of play.

We are excited about the progress we are making and the girls are competing well. We are emphasizing to control the things we can control every day, which will include attitude, effort and communication. It is nice to have everyone back at practice now. and we are looking forward to having the time to add some things on both ends of the floor wih our first game not being until Nov. 30.

Parkway

Division: IV

Coach: Dan Williamson (third season)

Coach’s analysis: We have a talented group of girls coming back from last year’s team as well as some up-and-coming underclassmen. These girls play well together and are very unselfish. We return four starters and five letter winners from last season, so we are bringing back a lot of experience and playmaking from last year’s team. We hope this experience will help us win some of the close games we lost last season. We think that our biggest strength on offense will be our guard quickness and ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter. Hopefully our guards can get into the paint to create shots for themselves and for their teammates. We also feel like we have good post players that can score from the inside as well as control the boards. We feel we can mix in scoring from the perimeter with scoring from the paint to have a balanced offensive attack. Defensively, we want to mix in man-man defense and some zone in the halfcourt to make teams work to get shots, but we will also look to press and use our quickness to score some easy points.

St. Henry

Division: IV

Coach: Nathan Uhlenhake (first season)

2020-21 overall record: 2-18

Also on varsity roster: Abby Buschur (Soph.)

Coach’s analysis: As we approach the upcoming season, we’re looking to take a small step forward every day. We want to create an atmosphere in which we’re able to learn, grow and improve in every step of the way. We want to create a cohesive group that loves to play for each other and our community. These girls have been working extremely hard all offseason to prepare for the season. I’m excited for these young women to finally be able to take the court. I would like to give a shoutout to our training coach, coach Werling, for helping these young women improve all offseason. On the court defensively we want to make sure we’re making things difficult on the ball handler. We want to create turnovers and difficult shots that transition into scoring opportunities on the offensive end. We’re looking to improve our transitions, both offensively and defensively. Offensively we’re looking for our players to make decisions with the ball that create scoring opportunities for our team. I’m really excited to start the season with the group of coaches and players we have.
