Roundup: Ohio Northern advances in women’s soccer

CLEVELAND — The Ohio Northern women’s soccer team Friday earned a 2-0 victory against Hope (Mich.) in an NCAA Division III Tournament First Round game at DiSanto Field on the campus of Case Western Reserve University.

The Ohio Athletic Conference champion Polar Bears (14-4-3 overall) advance to face host and 10th-ranked Case Western Reserve, which defeated Chatham (Pa.) 5-0 earlier in the day at 3:30 p.m. today.

Hope closes out its season with a 13-5-2 overall record.

The Polar Bears’ scoring came courtesy of sophomore Jill Roberts and a Hope own goal.

Fresh off being named the 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, senior Kristy Catrine made six saves in securing her 13th shutout of the season and 21st of her career.

WAVERLY, Iowa — No. 17-ranked Ohio Northern fell to No. 11 Colorado College 25-21, 14-25, 25-15, 25-23 in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament at Levick Arena.

The Polar Bears end their season with an 22-6 overall record.

Sydney Eggleton had 13 kills and Taylor Baxter had 11 kills to lead ONU.
