Wapakoneta’s Braeden Goulet was named offensive back of the year and Ottawa-Glandorf’s Tyler Leopold captured offensive lineman of the year honors. Shawnee’s Myles Aldrich was tabbed defensive back of the year and St. Marys’ Dylan Giesege and Bath’s Lucas Prichard shared co-defensive lineman of the year honors.

Volleyball
Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association All-Ohio
New Bremen’s Diana Kramer and New Knoxville’s Meg Lageman shared Coach of the Year honors by the Ohio Volleyball Coaches Association.
In Division III, Ottawa-Glandorf’s Erin Kaufman was selected to the 2021 OHSVCA All-Ohio first team along with Coldwater’s Annelise Harlamert. Coldwater’s Jenna Luegers was named to the third team.
New Bremen’s Kaylee Fruend, along with New Knoxville’s Elle Gabe and Carsyn Henschen were named t the Division IV first team and Lincolnview’s Kendall Bollenbacher, Leipsic’s Peyton Heitmeyer, New Knoxville’s Avery Hnschen and Fort Recovery’s Whitley Rammel were selected to the second team. On the third team were Miller City’s Abi Lammers and New Bremen’s Abi Powers. Crestview’s Cali Gregory and New Bremen’s Mia Schmitmeyer were honorable mention selections.
Lima Senior Hall of Fame
The next induction into the Lima City Schools Athletic Hall of Fame will be held Feb. 19, with tickets to the event on sale online now at www.limaspartannation.org/tickets.
The Lima City Schools Athletic Hall of Fame honors teams, athletes, coaches and contributors from Lima Senior High School, Central High School and South High School. A Legacy Award is also presented.
This will be the fourth class to be inducted, with a new class coming every year. The Athletic Office accepted nominations this summer and a selection committee recently made its decision.

Inductees will first be recognized during halftime of the Feb. 18, home basketball game. Tip-off of the varsity game is at 7:30 p.m.
The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held Feb. 19, at the UNOH Event Center, 1450 N. Cable Road. A meet and greet with inductees will begin at 5 p.m., with dinner starting at 6 p.m. The program will begin at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the event are $40 and can be purchased online at www.limaspartannation.org/tickets. A table of eight can be reserved for $320, and a table of 12 for $480.
Tickets are only available online and the last day to purchase tickets is Feb. 1. Seating is limited.

Shawnee product honored
ADA — Sophomore linebacker Peyton Wilson (Lima/Shawnee) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 1-7.
This is Wilson’s second such accolade of his career, as he also earned it once during his freshman season.
On Saturday against No. 21 Baldwin Wallace, Wilson tallied a career-high 18 tackles and his first sack of the season as the Polar Bear defense held the Yellow Jackets to 335 yards of total offense in a narrow 17-14 defeat.
Wilson ranks second on the team in tackles with 72 this season to go with four tackles for loss.
ONU spikers honored
ADA — Ohio Northern senior Melina Woods (Ada) and freshman Taylor Baxter (Bellevue) have been named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference First Team, joining senior Kiki Carle (Cincinnati/Mother of Mercy) and freshmen Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) and Erin Wagner (Massillon/Perry) on the 2021 All-Conference Volleyball Team in voting conducted by the league’s 10 head coaches.
Baxter was also selected as the OAC Freshman of the Year.
Jennings and Carle were Second Team selections, and Wagner rounded out the ONU quintet as an Honorable Mention pick.
Second-year head coach Katie Kuhn also received recognition, earning the OAC Coach of the Year accolade in guiding the Polar Bears to conference regular-season and tournament championships. The team enters the week with a record of 22-5 and a No. 17 national ranking in the AVCA Poll.
Woods, an outside hitter, leads the Polar Bears in kills (293) and is second in hitting percentage (.331), ranking seventh and fourth, respectively, in the OAC in those categories while adding 39 blocks.
An All-OAC Second Team selection as a junior, Woods was an OAC Player of the Week on Sept. 7 and is coming off being named the 2021 OAC Tournament MVP in her second season as a Polar Bear after transferring from Canisius.
She has tallied 480 kills and 83 blocks while hitting .330 in her ONU career.
