Roundup: Shawnee, Ottawa-Glandorf girls, Bluffton boys win soccer districts

WAPAKONETA — Chloe Cleaves scored the only goal as Shawnee defeated St. Marys 1-0 in a Division II girls soccer district title match Saturday.

Kaelen Swallow made two saves to earn the shutout in goal and St. Marys counterpart Ella Jacobs had five saves. The Indians (17-1-1) will play Mansfield Madison Comprehensive, a 3-2 overtime winner against Ontario, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Marion Harding.

Archbold 0

MacKenzie Recker had the goal and Emma Brinkman made a save to earn the district final shutout in goal. Archbold goalie Reagan Kohler made 14 saves.

The Titans will play Coldwater, a 3-1 winner against Ottoville, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Defiance.

OTTOVILLE — Brianna Kller had two goals and Maddie Sheffer had one tally for the Cavaliers.

BLUFFTON — Liberty-Benton advances to play Pemberville Eastwood at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bowling Green. Bluffton keeper Julia Mehaffe made six saves. Liberty-Benton’s Brook Deter had two goals and Kyle Recker added another goal.

TIFFIN — Jude Spallinger had two goals, Justin Good had a pair of assists, Ben Hartzler and Jonah Brown each had a score and Nolan Hoffman had a goal and an assist for the Pirates (15-3-1) in the district championship match. Bluffton will play Ottawa Hills, a 5-0 winner against Genoa Area, at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Tiffin Columbian.

LEIPSIC — Leipsic quarterback Dillan Neese passed for 120 yards and one toucchdown and rushed for 78 yards on 78 carries and Hayden Hiegel rushed for two touchdowns and 57 yards on 17 carries. Tristan Siefker had two catches for 41 yards and one touchdown.

Hopewell-Loudon 49, Hardin Northern 13

BASCOM — Hardin Northern’s Carter Curtis rushed for 101 yards on 24 carries. Nate Robson was 7 of 12 for 127 yards and two touchdowns. Connor Curtis caught one touchdown and Xander Wilson had the other touchdown reception.

Fort Recovery 40, Arcanum 30

ARCANUM — Fort Recovery’s Riley Hiser rushed for 233 yards and four touchdowns and Cale Rammel was 6 of 8 passing for 42 yards and rushed for a touchdown.

Coldwater 49, Delphos Jefferson 35

COLDWATER — Isaac Fullenkamp rushed 15 times for 179 yards and two touchdowns, Luke Sudoff ran for a pair of TDs, Marcel Blasingame had four carries for 96 yards and a score, Adam Hrycko ran for a touchdown and Reece Dellinger had a TD pass to Blasingame, who had two catches for a touchdown for Coldwater.

Collin Bailey completed 24 of 34 pass attempts for 354 yards and had a trio of TD throws to Braylon Scalf, who had 11 catches for 181 yards, and another to Andrew Miller for Delphos Jefferson. Bailey also had 39 carries for 142 yards and a touchdown.

COLUMBUS GROVE — Colin Metzger had 10 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown, Landen Schroeder and AJ Schafer each had a TD run, Brenton Renner had a touchdown pass to Jacksen Schroeder and Shep Halker returned an interception for another score.

MARIA STEIN — Peyton Moeller had three touchdown runs, Darren Meier had a pair of touchdown carries and Peyton Otte had a TD run.

Allen East 49, National Trail 8

HARROD — Carter Young had three touchdown runs, Jack Hoel and Kade Wireman each had a TD run and Jacob Hershberger had a touchdown throw to Hoel, who rushed eight times for 81 yards. Hershberger completed 11 of 19 pass attempts for 254 yards.

FINDLAY — Keaton Liles converted a 38-yard field goal for Bath.

ST. HENRY — Owen Lefeld rushed 21 times for 160 yards and scored five touchdowns and teammate Bryce Brookhart had a TD throw to Bennett Gels.

NEW BREMEN — Hunter Schaefer ran for 123 yards and a trio of touchdowns on 11 carries, Trevor Schaefer, Colten Muether and Braeden Suchland each had a TD run and David Homan had a touchdown throw to Dylan Bambauer.

Mount Union 42,

Ohio Northern 35

ADA — Ohio Northern was even with No. 4 Mount Union for nearly 58 minutes before falling in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at Mount Union Stadium.

The Polar Bears fell to 4-4 overall and 3-4 in the OAC, while the Purple Raiders improved to 8-0, 7-0.

Northern scored three consecutive touchdowns to rally from a 20-7 deficit.

Brody Hahn hit Upper Scioto Valley grad Chase Rose on an 18-yard TD pass with to get ONU within 20-14 at halftime.

On the opening drive of the second half, Brock Martin banged in from 1 yard out to give Northern a 21-20 lead with 4:39 gone in the period. Hahn then hit Austin Eick on a 9-yard touchdown pass to extend Ohio Northern’s lead to 28-20 with 5:06 left in the third.

Mount Union tied the game and then took a 35-28 lead with 13:04 left in the game.

Ohio Northern rallied when Hahn scrambled in from 9 yards out. Mt. Union then took a 42-35 lead with 2:14 to play. Northern drove to the Mount Union 30-yard line, but a desperation pass was picked off in the end zone.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Blake Rine threw touchdown passes to Treavon Cummings and Ethan Beringer for Bluffton (2-6, 1-4 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference). Davon Wooden had 14 total tackles also for Bluffton.

Mount Union 0

ADA — No. 17-ranked Ohio Northern won its 27th Ohio Athletic Conference regular season title with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-18 victory in a winner-take-all showdown between the league’s top two teams at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears (20-5 overall) won the conference title with an 8-1 mark, while the Purple Raiders fell to 20-6 (7-2 OAC).

ONU will be the top seed in the OAC Tournament, receiving a first round bye and will play host to a semifinal match at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Ada graduate Melina Woods (Ada) and Taylor Baxter each had 10 kills and Baxter added nine blocks for ONU.

Earlham 3, Bluffton 0

RICHMOND, Ind. — Bluffton saw its season with a 25-6, 25-23, 25-14 loss to Earlham College. Bluffton finished 10-18 with a 2-7 mark in the HCAC.

Alysha Like had eight kills, Paulding graduate Cassidy Posey had seven kills, Maddie White had 16 assists and Ottawa-Glandorf grad

Brooke Kleman had 15 digs for Bluffton.

Madonna 3, UNOH 0

LIMA —The University of Northwestern Ohio (8-25-, 3-15 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference) fell 27-25, 25-22, 25-16. Jessica Schaad had 17 kills, Casey Kingsland had 14 assists, Crestview grad Bailey Gregory had three aces and Aubree Ricketts had 18 digs for UNOH.

Bluffton 1, Anderson 0

ANDERSON, Ind. – Bluffton made an early Elijah Zimmerman goal stand up for the second straight match as the Beavers knocked out Anderson for their first ever HCAC tournament win. Bluffton moved to 9-7 on the season. Anderson bows out with an 8-9-2 mark for the season.

Goalie Angel Velasco-Urbina nailed down his fifth shutout of the season with six saves. Bluffton travels to No. 2 seed Hanover College for a 2 p.m. semifinal Wednesday.

UNOH 6, Siena Heights 0

ADRIAN, Mich. — Gustavo Moses had three goals, Cameron Power had a goal and two assists, Bjarne Renner and Lucas Vazquez each had a single tally and Joao Rupp had an assist as the Racers improved to 8-5-3 overall and 7-1-2 in the WHAC. Rafael Lima and Danilo Santos combined to earn the shutout in goal.

ADA — Ohio Northern closed out its regular-season schedule with a win at Kerscher Stadium.

The victory improved the Polar Bears to 11-4-3 overall and 7-1-1 in the OAC and earns them the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the OAC Tournament. The Purple Raiders fell to 10-6-1 overall and 6-3-0 in the conference.

Ohio Northern got goals from Lauren Naso, Elida grad Cienna Kuhn and Alaina Casey. Kylie Cabana assisted on Kuhn’s goal.

Siena Heights 2, UNOH 0

ADRIAN, Mich. — The Racers fell to 10-5-3 overall and 7-2-2 in the WHAC.

WINONA LAKE, Ind. — Ottawa-Glandorf grad Ben Westrick had 18 points and eight rebounds, Josh Cassell and Trevon Wells each scored 10 and Jalen Clark had seven assists for UNOH in a Grace College Tip-Off Classic encounter.
