Roundup: Shawnee shuts out Hughes to open playoffs

CINCINNATI — Shawnee (7-4) started the Division III football postseason with a 28-0 victory Friday night against Hughes (6-2).

Tyler Windau had a touchdown run and threw a TD pass to Myles Aldrich. Tommy Spyker and Jordan Banks each had TD runs.

The Indians will next play Friday night at Hamilton Badin, a 37-0 winner against Vandalia Butler.

Kings 50, Lima Senior 6

KINGS MILLS — Aiden Howard scored on a 1-yard run and Isaiah Funches-Foster had 56 yards on nine carries for Lima Senior (3-7).

Division IV

Van Wert 46, Rossford 0

VAN WERT — The Cougars (10-1) advanced to play at home against Wauseon, a 41-7 winner against Wooster Triway, on Friday night. Aidan Pratt had touchdown passes to Garett Gunter, Maddix Crutchfield and Connor Pratt and had a TD run as did Nathan Jackson and Carson Smith.

WINONA LAKE, Ind. — The University of Northwestern Ohio started its season with a loss in the Grace College Tip-Off Classic.

Hunter Bode had 11 points and seven rebounds, Ottawa-Glandorf graduate BenWestrick had 14 points and six rebounds, Zach Montes had eight rebounds and Lima Central Catholic grad Biggz Johnson and Isaac Golson Jr. each had four assists for UNOH.

LIMA — The University of Northwestern Ohio won 25-20, 23-25, 13-25, 25-21, 15-11. Hope Fetherolf had 14 kills, Navaeh Shugart had 11 kills, Aaliyah Alexis had 10 kills, Mailys Silvestre had 26 assists, Casey Kingsland had 22 assists, Hailey Walker and Jessica Schaad each had three aces and Aubree Ricketts had 25 digs for UNOH.
