ARCHERY

BASKETBALL

Lima: The Lima Family YMCA will be holding a skill development training program for boys and girls in kindergarten and first and second grades. Participants will work on the basics of the game and should bring their own basketballs if available. Sessions will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturdays in November with the first session Nov. 6. Registration is until Nov. 5. Cost is $20 for members and $40 for non-members and includes a T-shirt. Lima: The Lima Family YMCA will be holding a Jr. Cavs youth league Saturdays from Jan. 8 to Feb. 12 for boys and girls in first through eighth grades. Cost is $40 for members and $70 for non-members and includes a Jr. Cavs reversible Jersey, a ticket voucher to a Cleveland Cavaliers game and resources provided by the Jr. Cavs. Registration closes Dec. 6. HORSESHOES

Lima: The Allen County Horseshoe Pitchers, located at 1815 C St., have openings in leagues and doubles. Open doubles begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturdays. Corn hole leagues are forming. NO SCHOOL DAYS

Lima: The Lima Family YMCA will provide activities, including Wii Games, swimming, gym games and arts & crafts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 29, Nov. 1, Nov. 24 and Nov. 26 for those in kindergarten through fourth grade. Cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Participants are asked to bring a swimsuit, towel and packed lunch. Extended hours available on request. PICKLEBALL

Lima: Pickleball is played at Bradfield Center from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. All skill levels are welcome.

Lima: The Lima YMCA is holding open pickleball play from 10 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (appointment only). Free for YMCA members and $3 per visit for nonmembers or $20 per month for nonmembers (unlimited play). Individuals can register online at limaymca.net. Call 419-223-6045 for more information.

RUNNING

Lima: The Kiwanis Club of Lima will hold it’s third annual Howl’Oween Trick or Trot 5k, Fun Walk and Virtual Pet Contest from 4 p.m. 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at Faurot Park and Woodlawn Cemetery. The one-mile Fun Walk will begin at 4 p.m. followed by the 5k at 4:20 p.m. Glow in the dark finisher medals will be available for the first 250 walkers and runners. Proceeds from this event will be used to develop service minded young leaders in Lima City Schools. Pets can be entered in the virtual pet contest by sending a photo to [email protected] and sending a check for $10 to Kiwanis Club of Lima, PO Box 544, Lima, OH 45802. Photos will be posted on the Kiwanis Facebook page and winners will be determined by votes from family and friends. Pet contest proceeds will be donated to area pet advocates.

St. Henry: Early bird registration has opened for the return of the Cooper Farms Turkey Trot 5K, benefiting Everheart Hospice. The race will take place Saturday, Nov. 6. Though the race is back in person this year, the post-race hot turkey meal will be served carry-out style. Registration with long sleeve Tek shirt is $30 for anyone ages 15 and older and $15 for those 14 and younger. Registration without receiving a shirt will be $15 for those 15 and older and free for those 14 and younger. Prices increase after Oct. 3. New Knoxville: The Harvest 5K and Concert will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, at The Way International Headquarters.

TRAPSHOOTING

Lima: The Lima Sabres have various shooting events. Thursday Trap Practice for Adults/Juniors/Beginners is 4 p.m. weekly. Adult Trap Practice is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, weather permitting. VOLLEYBALL

YMCA CLASSES

Lima: The Lima Family YMCA will be holding Classes for Kids (besides basketball leagues), including Shoot & Scoop (basketball skills for those 3 to 5 years old Friday evenings), Youth Karate, Gymnastics, Lego League and swim lessons. Classes for adults include Karate, swim lessons, Water Aerobics, Arthritis Aquatics, Chair Exercise classes, Yoga (chair and regular), HIIT, BodyPump, Yoga Pilates Flow, Core workout CX, Combat, Zumba, Cardio and Tone and cycling classes. Members get land fitness classes free and a discount on other classes. Nonmembers are welcome to join classes at a pay per class rate or session fee.
